"Ptolemy made a universe which lasted 1,400 years. Newton also made a universe, which has lasted 300 years. Einstein has made a universe and I can’t tell you how long that will last.” - George Bernard Shaw pays tribute to Albert Einstein #OTD in 1930. #NobelPrize

1. How off are we from the "REAL NUMBER" in sports (TDF for example)? Just imagine what we call 200w is not really the real number. Imagine it´s 250w. We're 50w off. Is it problematic? Well, if sensitivity of the measurement is good, probably it would not. A 🧵without pictures.

@stevemagness I agree with your assertion, Deliberate practice doesn't explain the variance in perf' acquisition. However, is the reference to the above study erroneous considering the post research discourse? I.e: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31708836/ -Brad Hall I am a big admirer of your work

Hard work is necessary, but not sufficient. How much does deliberate practice explain the variance in performance? According to research: 24% for games 23% for music 20% for sport 5% for education 1% for business 1% for elite athletes thegrowtheq.com/hard-work-is-n…

With my official graduation coming up in a month or so, I am super happy to have the 4th paper from my PhD accepted in EJSS The intensity rather than the quantity of prior work determines the subsequent downward shift in the power duration relationship in professional cyclists

Pertinent to remember that the concept of what is nowadays often referred to as ‘zone 2’ training was probably MAF and already around in the late 60s early 70s ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…

Valuable gains from small efforts🥇Brief periods of sprinting during low intensity rides may provide elite cyclists added performance📈 This is demonstrated in the publications and PhD thesis of @AlmquistNicki. A thread 🧵->

Had a brilliant conversation with @DajoSanders on all things #cycling training, including how to program #HIIT effectively after profiling a rider's anaerobic power reserve.
𝗛𝗜𝗜𝗧 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲@hiitscience

HARD & SHORT intervals with AEROBIC parameters 🙄!? @DajoSanders clarifies how at first glance cycling 🚵🏻 will appear linear, but in fact there are differences for the “performance determinants” because every stage can be so different - and THE CYCLISTS ARE TOO!
