Cassey Martinan has officially joined the Saturday Club after guiding Jackpot Bingo to victory at Pinjarra Park on the weekend, marking her 20th provincial win. This milestone meets the minimum requirement for apprentices to ride at prime metropolitan meetings.
It is an especially meaningful achievement given the serious hip injury she sustained in a mid‑race fall at Pinjarra in December 2024, which made her return to form and progression toward a Saturday licence all the more impressive.
Local fans will have to wait a little longer to see her in Saturday action, as she has taken a book of rides in Darwin at this weekend’s Fannie Bay meeting.
Cassey entered the industry without a racing background, driven purely by a love of horses. Fresh out of high school, she began working as a stable hand and quickly found her place.
“I had no idea what racing was, but I was curious, and I loved horses,” she said.
“Everyone in the industry is really helpful and you make a lot of friends on the way.”
We wish Cassey all the best for the week ahead as the next chapter of her career begins.
