Reports say these 14 Muslims were arrested for throwing chicken bones into the Ganga after an Iftar party, in other words, they threw non-veg food in the river and thus “desecrated” it. Some people are still arguing “but they didn’t even throw the bones.” My response is different: yes, they threw the bones. So what? The entire “desecration” argument is idiotic and perverse, and here’s why. Ganga’s fish economy runs into thousands of crores. Official figures show 2.82 million fishers directly depend on the river for their livelihood across Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal. So if pulling non-veg (fish) out of the Ganga, killing them, and selling them is fine, then throwing a few biodegradable chicken bones cannot suddenly become a crime against the river’s sanctity. Either non-veg has no place in Ganga or it does, you can’t have it both ways only when it suits you. Now, let’s talk real pollution. Sewage accounts for roughly 80% of the total pollution in the Ganga. Official reports identify between 97 and 118 towns directly dumping into it. Approximately 2,900 to 3,000 million litres per day, yes - 3,000 million litres - of sewage is discharged straight into the main stem of the river. Roughly 75% of this remains untreated before it enters the water. This includes human excreta on a massive scale. Industrial waste makes up another 12–20% of the total wastewater. While smaller in volume, it is far more dangerous, full of toxic, non-biodegradable chemicals and heavy metals that actually kill the river. And yes, half-burnt bodies from cremations and waste from idol immersions also add to the organic load but we won’t even dwell on those because I don't want to hurt more "feelings". So let’s be clear: 200 grams of chicken bones have supposedly “desecrated” the Ganga and “hurt religious sentiments” so badly that 14 men must be arrested. But 3,500 million litres of sewage and industrial waste every single day, including raw human shit, does not hurt anyone’s feelings? That is pure, naked hypocrisy. The river has been biologically dead in long stretches for decades despite ₹42,000+ crore spent on Namami Gange. Yet the moment a few Muslims throw some biryani leftovers, the same people who ignore open sewage drains, toxic factory pipes, and floating ash suddenly discover “sanctity” and demand instant arrests. This isn’t about saving the Ganga. This is about selective targeting of Muslims in India. “Hurting sentiments” becomes a weapon only when the accused wear skull caps and say “InshaAllah.” When the pollution comes from towns, industries, or traditional Hindu practices, it suddenly becomes “development challenges” or “cultural rights.” So stop with the pathetic excuse that “there were no chicken bones.” Even if there were, it is not a crime worth national outrage. Clean up the 3,500 million litres of actual filth first. Sewage networks, industrial enforcement, consistent rules for every kind of waste, before you point fingers at 14 men eating biryani on a boat. Until then, this isn’t devotion. It’s just pure bigotry pretending to be piety, nothing else.

He was shot by cow vigilantes. 3. Roshan Khatoon, a fasting Muslim woman in Amhi village, Madhubani district (Ghoghardiha block), was allegedly beaten and humiliated by a mob after approaching the village head for justice in a dispute. She was forced to drink a mix of urine and alcohol. 4. A 65 years old Abdul Salam in Jhagarua village, Darbhanga district, Bihar (Jamalpur police station area). He was beaten to death with an iron rod after objecting to communal slurs.

This is what Indian Muslims are facing in the month of Ramadan. There is no outrage, no media headline, and no justice!
