📍 Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh India In Varanasi, all 14 accused in the Ganga Iftar case have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days, and the court has also sought their criminal history. They have been accused of hurting religious sentiments by allegedly throwing bones into the Ganga River. However, it is being reported that not a single bone has been recovered from the river as evidence. This raises serious questions. Earlier, even offering namaz was at times portrayed as controversial, and now even holding an Iftar gathering is being treated as a major offense resulting in young Muslim men being sent to judicial custody. It also brings up a broader concern: can gathering peacefully in an open natural space for Iftar be considered a crime?

Concern Regarding Action Taken on Informational Post We had earlier shared a post addressing a serious concern and tagging Delhi Police, requesting action against an individual operating the Instagram account NaharkVlog, who was allegedly making provocative statements that could disturb communal harmony in Delhi. In that post, we clearly mentioned a disclaimer stating that all information was publicly available on the accused’s Instagram account, and our intention was only to inform authorities and seek appropriate action. However, we received a notice from the police asking us to remove the post, citing concerns about disturbance to social harmony. Respecting the directive, the post was deleted. At the same time, it is concerning that the individual whose content was reported has reportedly not been arrested yet. This raises an important question why is action taken against those raising concerns, while the original source of alleged provocation remains unchecked? We once again urge authorities to take appropriate and fair action, ensuring that peace and law & order are maintained, and those responsible for spreading hate are held accountable.
