@giancar73012035 What would you say is the strongest relation of current marathon to pathways into the darkness? Or the Tycho vs Durendal vs Leia conflict, which Marathon's story is this closest too? Or player rampancy from infinity?

It's been almost two months since Marathon came out. Anyone who says Marathon has nothing to do with the og games is either ignorant or lying right to your face, because if you read the game's lore especially the Cryo Archive you'll see that it's all connected to the og games

@InsaneProbably @giancar73012035 I was won over when I read Strauss comment that Durandal's poetry was adolescent and embarrassing, with a kind of eager pride for where it meant he was going. Funny! Also tragic! Understands the character really well, without just relying the grandiosity and mystique of his deeds

@InsaneProbably @giancar73012035 Yea we'd be very lucky if this works its way around to an ending, but I'm on board and rooting for it - what's here already mostly feels additive, puts some fresh depth and nuance into the world.

@InsaneProbably @giancar73012035 There are real limitations what with this being a live service game that has to maintain a status quo, and as with Destiny the surface stuff is generally weaker than what's there if ya look deeper. But I think they've done some pretty thoughtful work with it. Many codex gems

@InsaneProbably @giancar73012035 It seems like the Durandal-Thoth entity have experienced something like the final successful Infinity timeline may be out there too. Lots of ambiguity here but it appears that he's got himself trapped in a religious trance of sorts and the S'pht are feeling neglected and vengeful

Buddy doesn’t know just how similar the original Marathon games are to NuMarathon, how much it captures the tone despite an updated art direction, and the only major difference being that the genre of NuMarathon isn’t a PvE Doom-like game. The original tweet is correct.

the problem is the most enjoyable way to play leads to a story outcome most people find unsatisfying and unpleasant. people find it especially unpleasant BECAUSE of the culpability you have in leading the story down that path.

@JDunlap1974 I must be clearly missing something here, because saying "Pedal" is somehow incorrect, yet reading the comments implies the final letter is an L, which it can't be if Pedal is wrong. Also a lot of people here not knowing that Pedal boats are a thing.

We’re talking about making the bookshelf destructible but that’s a very careful balance to strike, because we can’t make every bookcase/furniture prop destructible (due to static world limitations), and it never feels great to have world inconsistencies like that.

Got a negative review about someone not being able to blow up a bookshelf in the tavern attic. I hate that attic. It has gotten us so many negative reviews. I should delete that attic.
And also move to a genre after that doesn't suffer from "my solution didn't work so bad game"

It's nice to see the introspection here from Shatner (he's done it before), and certainly the movie would've been better with a bigger budget and better effects. But my main issue with it is the *tone*, which is just too inconsistent. Some of the worst humor ever in Trek.

@eaonns bad idea, respectfully. too much control over what you’ll encounter in a raid breaks these games. blue shields are meaningless if taking one means you’ll only meet other blue shields. better gear is an advantage but more’s at stake, that’s the game

@SaintTCK @Captain_Shoffer @Onepeg the video says it happens on exfil, but it happens on pickup. you'll see a broken item on what you're looting when becomes coins when you pick it up. you can't have something in your inventory turn into coins on exfil as far as i know

@MarathonDevTeam much more regressive play than i woulda expected in this queue! mostly ratters and third parties. which is all fine in the genre but it’s felt like something’s in the water on dire marsh duos, i had multiple games in a row where everyone waited til the last 5 mins to clash
