As a liver doctor who has treated patients with hepatitis B for decades, this change to the vaccine schedule is a mistake. The hepatitis B vaccine is safe and effective. The birth dose is a recommendation, NOT a mandate. Before the birth dose was recommended, 20,000 newborns a year were infected with hepatitis B. Now, it’s fewer than 20. Ending the recommendation for newborns makes it more likely the number of cases will begin to increase again. This makes America sicker. Acting CDC Director O’Neill should not sign these new recommendations and instead retain the current, evidence-based approach.

Aren’t all the legal cases in the Library of Congress? I’m not even being funny. And even if they aren’t, aren’t they in the legal libraries of publicly funded schools? I can’t understand why anybody in the United States government would have to pay for information about the Law. The law by its very definition needs the government to actually exist, and therefore the government is responsible for its recordkeeping and its accurate recordkeeping. Why in the world would they pay a third-party? I get the snarky nature of the post and why it is snarky, but let’s get down to the root of the issue and ask why in the world information that the government is responsible for tracking is getting sold back to them from a third-party ?

It says that “[a]ll persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” are citizens. That second, critical, conditional phrase is conveniently ignored or misinterpreted by advocates of “birthright” citizenship.
