@thinkingwest Age Of Empires, Total War, Prince Of Persia trilogy (PS2), Assassin's Creed franchise, incredible memories that got me quickly hooked into history books early on out of curiosity and passion. Some 2010s games were very good too.

Late 1990s/early 2000s games were steeped in history, and not just on a surface level. Total War, the original CODs, and Age of Empires had 10 year olds learning about medieval Europe, WW1, and classical antiquity. It’s no coincidence the generation raised on those games still thinks about the Roman Empire everyday, and daydreams of a more traditional society. Looking back, they were magnificent teaching tools.
