@HamrickPaul @Abi0lvera Yes. Based on history it seems pretty obvious that electronic/computing technology will get cheaper over time — and in particular that it will fall in cost relative to human labor.

@annakhachiyan @Enzorpheus Keep in mind, this is nothing new. I was dealing with this culture when I started college in Ohio in 1997. Completely destroyed what was originally an earnest desire to be a good, standup guy and made me increasingly cynical about women.

Seriously consider for a moment just how much better life would be if there was none of this. Zero presence of women and their retarded dramas and motivated pseudo-worldviews in culture. That's your assignment for today, just give some thought to this.

@HandMeTheGunAnd @Timmetie @webdevMason For lefty socdems: Don’t you need the people you want to help to like the new world you usher in for them? Don’t they need to actually change culturally to enjoy life with less stuff and a more European smoking-and-drinking-all-day-while-sitting-at-a-cafe sort of life?

Caleb Hammer’s audit guest, who was a cook in the Army, reveals he has an 80% disability rating and receives a disability check of $2,100-$4,000 per month, despite being discharged for selling vapes. “Well, I got honorably discharged because I never got caught.”

@Timmetie @webdevMason I agree it’s paternalistic, I just think that if paternalistic lefty policies start being implemented these supposed beneficiaries of said paternalism will revolt and vote out the paternalistic lefties.

@civilagain @webdevMason The problem is “disabled” is supposed to mean “unable to work”. So it’s a contradiction in terms for various disabled vets to also tout their being “abled” lifestyles.

@webdevMason I have a Vietnam vet in my life who took plenty of scalps in his time. He’s an incredible business person with excellent businesses making tons of money. He’s also 100% “disabled”. For such guys, I don’t mind paying. I want the fake “vets” to be sued and jailed.

@Timmetie @webdevMason OK but do you think people this dumb and greedy will, in the long run, support European style social democrat paternalism? You think they’ll be happy so long as they have “free” healthcare, “free” buses instead of a car payment, etc etc?

Our greedy corporate grocers have been caught colluding and certainly fleece us. If you think this is better than farm to table - you're fucked. Our food distribution system is fragile and controlled by a few very rich people. 3 days without food and your neighbours will be thinking about eating you.

EVs are not ideal for long-distance trips or for people living in rural areas where public charging stations are not readily available. They’re city dweller golf carts. But EVs are admittedly becoming more marketable, especially with the volatile fluctuations in oil (and by extension gasoline) prices. Still, the upfront cost of installation of a home chargers is a lot, and it’s not guaranteed to pay itself off with the fuel savings should the battery go bad. The time it takes to charge an EV is also a bit longer than the time it takes to top off an ICE with gas. There are pros and cons. Ultimately, the consumer should be able to choose what he or she wants.

@HamrickPaul Waymo did very careful evaluations. In bad situations with poor lightning and lack of features Tesla can fail to estimate depth. The human reliability is 1 fatality for 100 million miles. Your own experience can't measure up.

@AndyXAndersen @krishnanrohit Do you use FSD? Can you give me examples of current shortcomings that LiDAR would fix? I’m an FSD user and the only problems I see are edge-case decision making and bad route choice (navigation) at times. I never see it have a problem detecting objects.

@krishnanrohit Elon has consistently underestimated what it would take. He is now learning the lessons the hard way. Start small. Use geofencing. Use safety drivers. Lidar is getting cheap and offers truly more reliability.

The Starbucks CEO made $97 million in 2024. The median Starbucks barista made $14,674. That's a 6,666/1 ratio. a barista would have to have started working 4,643 years before Jesus was born to earn what the CEO made in a single year.

@haning_will @DevinOlsenn @AustinCooper90 keep in mind, EV’s have drawn haters cuz they symbolize environmentalist do-gooder-ism, elitism, etc., which is understandable, but those haters spread misinfo, only thing they’re correct about is that on long road trips (400+ miles) charging stops take longer than pumping gas

Funny, a few years back all the socialist told me it should be free. I did a study on it in grad school and showed just how deep of a financial trouble it was. I don't get why city officials don't just admit when shit is bad and show the proof.

In Quebec/Ontario/Atlantic Canada in particular it's very rare you get top-level politicians who don't have other politicians in their family. Which is why politics often exhibits the same dysfunctions as any other family business.

@BrianDijkema I dunno, it just seems to me that for all of human history, people who want kids, have kids. It does not seem like a difficult thing to do if it's actual a priority. So I really feel like the Occam's razor explanation is people just don't want to have kids these days.

I love JJ but his statement below, oft repeated by others in the media, isn’t what we are told by Canadian women. “Women in Canada at the end of their reproductive years have about 0.5 fewer children than they desire, on average. “Missing” births vastly outnumber “excess” births. Nearly half of women at the end of their reproductive years have had fewer children than they wanted.”
J.J. McCullough@JJ_McCullough

@BagelPolling Public policy can’t make people have kids if they just don’t want them. So many different policies have been tried. People just don’t want kids, or they’d have them.
