@Timmetie @barbarismcrit What’s the incentive to be totally accurate? They just need to show the lowest number they can conceivably get away with. But there are “escape valves” in asset markets all over the world that tell us what is nominal and what is real much better than, say, cpi.

@DomainDead Why, they don't want a weaponized justice system and if in power would not use it to go after people like Hassan. They just don't really care when it happens to Hassan, they'd probably stop it if possible but that's not needed the judges are pretty much holding.

I am an adult so I can say that the Trump Admin weaponizing the justice system against dissenters on its Cuba policy is wrong. I can also say people who encouraged people not to vote for Kamala were fascist enablers and it's ironic they are expecting the Dems they attack regularly to defend them. And I can also understand people uncommitted on this topic because they don't want to support the lesser of two evils.

@MikeIsaac Emails is such an often cited example at my work too, I always ask them if we're currently not sending enough emails. Is that really a bottleneck. I'm IT, I see how much emails were sending, I don't need AI to write emails, I need AI to slap someone in the face to stop them.

i have found this as an interesting byproduct of the rise of obvious ai writing in pitches all the companies say it’s a big timesaver and i guess that’s true in a sense bc i send AI-written pitches directly into the trash

A lot of the emails I get from founders are now written in a hard-hitting journalistic style. I know they're written by AI, because no founder ever wrote this way before. And once you realize something is written by AI, it's hard not to ignore it.

Economically, Americans just are not doing particularly badly right now. Real wages, controlling for inflation, have grown for nearly all deciles in recent years. The only exception is the very lowest decile, solely in 2025, in large part due to Trump's tariffs.
