Akina Mama wa Afrika
Akina Mama wa Afrika@amwaafrika·
It is with deep sorrow and profound respect that Akina Mama wa Afrika (AMwA) mourns the passing of our beloved feminist sister, comrade, mentor, and elder, Jessica Babihuga Nkuuhe. Jessica was a fierce feminist, human rights defender, and peace activist whose life’s work leaves an indelible mark on the struggle for justice and liberation across Africa. From her leadership at Isis-WICCE (now WIPC) and Urgent Action Fund Africa, to her solidarity work with Femme Africa Solidarité and her foundational role in the Uganda Feminist Forum, Jessica embodied radical love, courage, and an unwavering commitment to women's rights and bodily autonomy. Jessica’s activism was fearless. Whether standing against unconstitutional governance through Women4Ug or facing arrest to defend our democratic spaces, she was ever-ready to put her body on the frontline for freedom. She nurtured and mentored generations, offering wisdom, humour, and fierce tenderness. She was a true Auntie, Elder, and revolutionary spirit. Today, we honour Jessica’s immense contribution to our feminist movements. We mourn her loss, but above all, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, passion, and relentless hope. Rest in power, always Jessica💜💜💜

If 🇺🇸 aid funding is not restored, the world is at risk of the AIDS pandemic resurging globally, losing the progress in HIV treatment & prevention that we've made over the last 25 yrs. We urge a reconsideration & urgent restoration of life-saving services! bbc.com/news/articles/…
