This can get in the sea There is a reason 90% of orthopaedic surgeons are male, the same reason such high numbers of CEOs are; patriarchy; outdated power systems, biases and and and… It’s why many of us are working hard to make the specialty more diverse, more inclusive and thus *better*, for patients and the profession alike. (Let’s not forget the evidence showing more diverse specialities are better places to work, and that patients treated by female surgeons have lower rates of adverse postoperative outcomes including death at 90 days and 1 year after surgery compared with those treated by male surgeons.) toxic stereotypes do nothing but harm.

To all my #stroke colleagues, do any services operate a model where by if a patient meets the criteria for #thrombectomy at the ASC they are transferred to their CSC without waiting for an answer to the referral? Thanks 😊 @Deborah71247971 @HargrovesDavid

.@WesStreeting recognises that emergency care is in crisis. Thousands of stroke patients are waiting too long to be taken to hospital to receive treatment. Long delays can lead to long-term disabilities.

We also heard in the #KingsSpeech that the Government will tackle NHS performance & reduce waiting times. Ambulance wait times & handover delays have affected stroke care for years. We want @Ara_Darzi's report to provide the NHS with a lifeline to improve emergency stroke care.
