@VernBuchanan It took 6 months for my retirement paperwork to hit and for me to start getting my retirement. Not everyone can wait that long for the money. We were fortunate to be able to handle it.

The federal gov’t processes retirements BY HAND in an UNDERGROUND MINE using a paper system straight out of the Stone Age. No wonder bureaucracy moves at a snail’s pace.

Federal employee retirements are processed using paper, by hand, in an old limestone mine in Pennsylvania. 700+ mine workers operate 230 feet underground to process ~10,000 applications per month, which are stored in manila envelopes and cardboard boxes. The retirement process takes multiple months.
