@progressiveact Thank you for this. The one thing I’d add is Mamdani was so eager to one up Dolan he didn’t acknowledge the MSG or Radio City Hall employees who worked late into the night to make the viewing parties happen. At the heart of that speech was soulless self promotion.

I’m sorry y’all, but as a real, true, authentic New Yorker… I just can’t get with this Mamdani grift. One year you’re naming Tom Thibodeau when asked to name a current Knick. The next year you’re giving a Knicks championship speech like you’ve been living and breathing Knicks basketball your entire life. And to be fair, it was a good speech. He’s a talented speaker. He’s a great orator. But that’s exactly why I’m skeptical. Because the most effective politicians know how to make themselves feel familiar. They learn what people care about. They learn the language. They learn the culture. And then they wrap themselves in it. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe Zohran Mamdani has been the biggest Knicks fan in New York this entire time. But as a real, true, authentic New Yorker, something about this doesn’t feel organic to me. It feels manufactured. It feels calculated. It feels like branding. I don’t get why people are impressed by a guy who is good at reading other people’s speeches. He’s a professional actor. People slobbering all over Mandami. I get that politicians always try to make sports about them and use it to their advantage so I guess you can’t blame Mandami for hogging the spotlight. While Obama was dividing the nation at his hideous library, President Trump was honoring American warriors with the Medal of Honor. Funny how the media barely mentions it. They had wall-to-wall coverage when Obama awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres, but recognizing military heroism doesn't seem to generate the same enthusiasm. Some of the nation's greatest heroes deserve more attention than Hollywood's trash.
