Hi Twitter fam. I found out Thursday that I’m going to be laid off from BASF. It’s not only me, but all of North American wheat breeding, the Australian program, with reductions in Europe. It’s been a fairly chaotic last 5 days to say the least. However….

@ScottVanAllen Our wheat plots in Haven Kansas were about 12 inches tall, that was the worst year in my experience for that part of the region. It was sandwiched by years where the flooding of fields was rampant. Life in the Great Plains!

Going through an old scrapbook my mother kept. I remember that year all to well. I was stripping wheat fields to stop the dust storm on Super Bowl Sunday in February

Finishing up at Clay Center, NE. Grateful for a site with available irrigation. As long as it doesn’t get hail, get frozen out, or get eaten by the cattle housed across the road, it should be a great set of trials.
