Mark Carney’s new line on India ignores some hard truths. Law enforcement in this country has already said India is linked to violence here on Canadian soil. That includes murder and the threat of assassination of our former leader Jagmeet Singh. Sikhs across Canada are still living with threats and intimidation. Extortion and bullets are targeting businesses and workers in our communities. Just this week, the National Spokesperson of the Sikh Federation was warned about threats to his life. Chillingly, these threats now include his children and wife. Canadians are still under threat. This isn’t about politics. It’s about Canadian sovereignty. It’s about public safety. It’s about justice. The first job of any Prime Minister is to protect Canadians and our sovereignty. And that must always come first.

The PBO just confirmed what Canadians already know: while the country is in a housing crisis, Mark Carney is planning to cut federal housing funding by more than half. You don’t fix a crisis by walking away from it. This is the same old story : the rich get their tax breaks, and everyone else gets told to “sacrifice.” No. We need a government that builds non-market homes at scale, puts people before profit, and treats homes as homes, not assets on a balance sheet.
