@AlCabbage045 I am absolutely fluent in both, shoot
English

@HarmonicApprox @bcubeddd imagine still using semicolons and commas on indices for derivatives
English

tHooft made his guide on how to be a good theoretical physicist into a new website goodtheorist.science
English

@KTsagaris @bcubeddd His notes on GR are some of the worst I have ever read
English

@bcubeddd Okay I’m curious, I need the name to add them to my Hatedex of professors.
English

@LimYenKheng @Samuel_Gregson Didn’t you read his famous paper on dS vacua?
English

Well known guy who made “terrible error of judgement” with his tax avoidance wants you to know that Peter Thiel says huge fields of physics are a worthless drain.
Ok…

@LimYenKheng Considering the themes and inspirations, an Evangelion tree topper is at least 60% catholic
English

This made me wonder if Evangelion tree toppers is still sort of consistently Christian iconography

@LimYenKheng I’m always afraid of movie adaptations … Especially for a game like sleeping dog which has so many things going for it, a series would be better suited but hell… I’ll keep my hopes up
English

@HarmonicApprox Me too... But sounds like they're making the movie. Which is just as good for me because im a fan of that director
English

wait.... does that mean....
Timo Tjahjanto@Timobros
We’ll cross the oceans of time to make this.
English

@LimYenKheng @DanPaul49989437 You're from mathematical relativity right? Like all fine gentlemen
English

@DanPaul49989437 yes tenure-track. And also I'm not a cosmologist. Yes while there's GR in cosmology but it's just happens not the part of GR I'm familiar with
English

Hit me some more. I could use the distraction

@LimYenKheng @DanPaul49989437 Thank me once you save Ferelden brother.
English

@HarmonicApprox @DanPaul49989437 Thanks - Origins is 90% off on Steam now 😳
English

@LimYenKheng @DanPaul49989437 Origins by a very large margin. Dragon Age 2 has a weird feel to it, inquisition was really enjoyable despite what people say. Veilguard was an incredible disappointment.
English

@DanPaul49989437 If I were pick a DA game to play, which one should I go for?
English

@LimYenKheng Tali’Zorah until the day I die. But Garrus does sound like a good option.

People have been asking why don't I use Mathematica. Let me make a thread to explain why

Have you noticed that science communication is overrun with populist rhetoric? @TimHenke9 and I have.
We are beset by influencers who rubbish institutions, prop up cranks, and mislead audiences about problems in science.
We deserve better.

@TimHenke9 @bcubeddd @quantabhidharma @IsomorphicPhi @ZyMazza The pole will be shifted and we will get a dressed mass. It’s usually the argument we use to distinguish between physical and effective mass. It’s physical if it holds at any order of perturbations, but effective if it disappears by corrections.
English

@TimHenke9 @bcubeddd @quantabhidharma @IsomorphicPhi @ZyMazza It’s not a matter of diagram cancellation really. If you consider the fermionic loop in QED it should also generate a mass for photons. However we can show that during the computations the pole will not shift, because of gauge invariance. If we added a mass term before however
English

@TimHenke9 @IsomorphicPhi @quantabhidharma @ZyMazza You can introduce a Higgs like interaction ( more precisely Stückelberg mechanism). You can also generate masses by Lorentz Symmetry breaking or through topological terms. You can also do like me sometimes and just kind of ignore the gauge invariance (which makes Yang Mills a no)
English

@HarmonicApprox @IsomorphicPhi @quantabhidharma @ZyMazza Massive as a result of Higgs interactions or by some other way?
English

@TimHenke9 @IsomorphicPhi @quantabhidharma @ZyMazza The crude explanation is that due to anomaly cancelation and the fact that the ward identity holds, no loop correction can shift the photon propagator and endow it with a mass in the standard model. There are ways to generate massive photons though, it’s part of my interests
English

@IsomorphicPhi @quantabhidharma @ZyMazza Isn't the proper way to perform the integral over some of the fields?
