India needs to be a builder and not just a consumer in this defining era of technology. The journey towards strategic autonomy starts now! DMs open.

Here we go. IndiaAI Mission invites proposals from startups, researchers and entrepreneurs to build state-of-the-art foundation models for the country. The models can be Large Language Models (LLMs) or Small Language Models (SLM), across multimodal text, voice or video. They must be indigenous AI models that align with global benchmarks, while addressing unique Indian challenges such as cultural, linguistic & societal context. Everyone is welcome to apply, multiple proposals will be selected with the goal of having SOTA ready India models by the end of the year. Proposals need to be sent to tenders[at]indiaai[dot]gov[dot]in. Time to put India on the map! 🚀🇮🇳 @OfficialINDIAai @GoI_MeitY indiaai.gov.in/article/call-f…

The deepseek models are a step change and will enable faster progress towards even more powerful intelligent systems. What we in India should do: 1. We should absolutely build our own “sovereign models” from scratch. 2. Our sovereign models should not compromise between state-of-the-art deep reasoning skills and high proficiency/efficiency on all major Indian languages. 3. Our sovereign models should work well with the voice modality to be widely accessible. 4. Our sovereign models should be trained on the data dividend India has with custom datasets from various orgs. 5. Our sovereign models should be trained by companies working under the law of the land. 6. Our sovereign models should be architected into systems for both the benefit of the common man and strategic uses. We at @SarvamAI are building out these sovereign models and collaborating with orgs across government, academia, and deep tech. Reach out if you want to contribute.
