Dan Patrick has made preventing Sharia influence a top priority for the 2027 legislative session, and a “Sharia Free Texas” caucus is already active in the Texas House. Why must America ban Sharia Law nationwide? Sharia includes provisions that directly conflict with the U.S. Constitution: hudud punishments (stoning, amputation, flogging), death penalties for apostasy and blasphemy, unequal legal status for women (inheritance, testimony, polygamy), and second-class treatment of non-Muslims. These clash with the 1st, 8th, and 14th Amendments: freedom of religion, cruel and unusual punishment bans, and equal protection under the law. American courts already have tools like the Supremacy Clause and public-policy exceptions, but explicit bans like Florida’s close loopholes and prevent any parallel legal system from taking root. We protect religious freedom for personal practice, but no religious or foreign legal code can override the Constitution. “Sharia has no place in America.
