This interview was edited a lot 🤦🏻‍♀️- the full cut had me yelling: if you are ACCEPTING Ed Blum's case premise, that Asian Americans are pitted against other students of color, then you have already fallen for his trap.

The only Asian American students/alums who testified in the Harvard admissions case did so in support of Harvard & affirmative action. Blum "initially struggled to get Asian American students to join his suit [and] filed the lawsuit before finding any". npr.org/2022/01/24/100…

@DavidOBowles I remember seeing anarchist graffiti using the x on my way to school in late 90's - early 00's Montevideo! The @ and the os/as were also used semi-regularly in other contexts - I remember seeing alumnos/as in school letters for example

Regardless of whether the "x" began in Latin America or not, however, I want to caution EVERYONE against the arrogant supposition that Latin Americans needed US Latinx folx to teach them Spanish has sexist elements. They figured that shit out for themselves before we did.
