Tonga Toast, served at the Kona Cafe in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, is reportedly the longest-standing single menu item across all of Walt Disney World…more than 50 years and still going strong. It debuted in 1971 at the grand opening of the Poly and was originally served at the now-defunct Coral Isle Cafe (one of the resort’s very first restaurants). When Kona Cafe opened in 1998, Tonga Toast was the only menu item carried over from the old Coral Isle.
It was created by Disney chefs specifically for the resort’s South Seas theme, drawing direct inspiration from traditional Kingdom of Tonga cuisine, where bananas are a dietary staple. Tongan sweets like keki isite (a fried donut) and panikeke (a deep-fried pancake), often made with sweet dough, syrup, and coconut milk, were the jumping-off point.
Disney lore claims that Elvis Presley loved Tonga Toast so much during his visits that he sent his personal chef to the Polynesian to learn the exact recipe and recreate it at home. You can now also get it at Capt. Cook’s. #WaltDisneyWorld#DisneyFacts

RAJU: Why shouldn't Congress assert its constitutional role and actually vote to declare war the way it did with Iraq and Afghanistan?
FETTERMAN: Well, the last war we actually declared was World War 2
RAJU: No. Iraq and Afghanistan.
FETTERMAN: *stammers*
@RockettLord Crew dragon + Falcon Heavy + Boost Kit could work just fine with multiple landing strategies.
What SLS brings is congressional willingness to support potential applications.
@Hatbox_Ghoul@CataPaul2 This is wrong lol. It hasn’t has a full orbit but about half of its 11 flights have been full successes by every metric it’s going for
@MaplePeache 10-15 cents per piece. Occasionally higher for licensing. Been this way forever. People just whine about prices without considering piece count
