Accurate simulation of molecules and materials is difficult, complex, and slow. But how difficult is this compared to computational challenges in other scientific fields? We compared usage statistics across three countries (US, UK, & Japan). Read more: rowansci.com/blog/conventio…

We're very happy to announce that we've raised $2.1M in pre-seed funding to build machine learning–powered molecular design and simulation tools for scientists! Rowan's investors include @pillar_vc, @aigrant, and angel investors. Read more here: rowansci.com/blog/rowan-ann…

Simple, Enantiocontrolled Azetidine Library Synthesis via Strain Release Functionalization of 1-Azabicyclobutanes. A fantastic collaboration with the Cravatt lab. A simple, modular, programmable approach to access complex stereopure azetidines through strain-release functionalization is disclosed. The synthetic methods developed enable parallel synthesis of stereodefined azetidines that would be otherwise laborious to produce. Given the privileged nature of these structures, a set of stereoprobes for use in activity-based protein profiling was prepared and evaluated, revealing proteins in human cancer cells with were liganded with clear stereo- and chemoselectivity.
