I always tell people researching their genealogy that you’re going to find some good things and bad things. I’m probably descended from John Knox and other Scottish reformation ministers on mom’s side. Not so sure if one of the Ggrandpas and Ggrandmas on dad’s side were actually married. They stated they were in the census but I can’t find any record of it. 🤷🏼♀️ When they moved the county courthouse records though some were thrown away.

@dogwoodblooms @HeatherBaranski You probably won't like everything you find out but without it happening exactly like it did, you would not be here! Some bastard kids made my brother cringe but not me! I like being here & I can see where a lady was young with a young neighbor & another was trying to survive.

Did you know a bunch of WNC hillbillies and their Tennessee friends are the ones who turned the tide on British control of the South? 🤔
It’s true!
On October 7, 1780, Patriot militiamen from western North Carolina and the Tennessee frontier met British Loyalist forces at Kings Mountain, right along the Carolina line. What followed was one of the fiercest, most decisive battles of the Revolution.
British Major Patrick Ferguson had threatened to burn the backcountry to the ground if locals didn’t lay down their arms—but instead of surrendering, those mountain men saddled up. They crossed the Blue Ridge, linked forces, and surrounded Ferguson’s troops on a steep, wooded ridge. The Loyalists’ high ground turned into a trap; the Patriots stormed up from all sides and took the mountain by sheer grit.
Ferguson was killed, his men overwhelmed, and the British grip on the South began to crumble.
Today, Kings Mountain National Military Park stands as a powerful reminder of that moment when the underdogs from the Carolina hills rose up, fought back, and helped turn the Revolution in America’s favor.
Never underestimate a hillbilly, y'all! 💯

@ZellerZelle18 So precious. 💖 I have a bookcase my Papaw made and his mom’s vanity he painted and gifted to me when I was 10, after my dad died.

My grandpa was a carpenter and he used to make us wooden Christmas gifts. I still have the shadow boxes with glass doors he made and gave to us. I still use them, too. My daughter uses one for her dance awards and I use one for a display in my kitchen.

I’d been wanting to read it for a while and another member of bookclub picked it from my list. I can send it to you after we’re done discussing it next month. I’m planning to do a George Washington biography for my turn since I’m hosting in July.
I love Francine Rivers books but a lot of them are really long so I’ve been hesitant to recommend one.
English

@HeatherBaranski Someone else was telling me about that book.
English

@heartsabustin Ironically, I just read Hosea yesterday. We’re reading “Redeeming Love” for my neighborhood book club. The book is based on Hosea.
English

@megbasham @SavvyTamz_57 Clearly, no one has ever read Hosea.

@MyBamaBelle528 @kimmie_c_ I know! A video came up of him loading and firing a pew pew so it is possible. If I hadn’t seen it, I wouldn’t have believed it.
English

@kimmie_c_ There are so many ways you can go with this story. 😂 And the questions I have, like HOW?

@four4thefire This is satire until you marry a car guy. 😉 I put my foot down when he wanted to put the shared car lift at our house.
My prediction is he’ll be a mechanic in his retirement.

@HeatherBaranski Same! He doesn’t handle the low doses well. Three doses a day has been wild. So glad this part is done. Praying the paralysis fixes itself in the upcoming weeks. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

@CyborgPeds Had the less serious version viral meningitis as a child. Worst headache ever! My mom took a walk to the other end of the hospital when they gave me a spinal tap and still heard me scream. Spinal tap helped a lot though.
