If the war truly ends with Iran in possession of the strait of Hormuz--as is currently the case--and if negotiations proceed according to Iran's 10-points, which include full sanctions relief and Iran charging tolls for use of the strait, then the outcome of the war will be clear. And it won't be a US victory.

It appears Trump just agreed to give Iran control of the Strait of Hormuz, a history-changing win for Iran. The level of incompetence is both stunning and heartbreaking. What on earth is happening?

I cannot emphasize this enough. A new dynamic will be at play when the US and Iran meet in Islamabad to negotiate a final deal based on Iran's 10-point plan: Trump's failed war has eliminated the potency of American military threats in US-Iran diplomacy. The US can still issue threats, but everyone will know that they no longer carry much weight. Essentially, war with Iran was tried and failed. As a result, negotiations will have to be based on genuine compromises from both sides, rather than coercion from either side.

My parents had a great approach to parenting teens — "We trust you — until you break that trust and give us a reason not to." As a result, my brother and I enjoyed a great degree of freedom, and didn't want to do anything to jeopardize that or our relationship with our parents.

Going to movies when I was 13 was a formative independence-seeking experience that did not hurt me in any way at all You know what (some of) the girls with overbearing parents did? Snuck out at night, got into relationships with dudes 5 years older than them, lied

1/ Many scenarios for the end of the Iran war suggest that Tehran will gain permanent control of the Strait of Hormuz. An analysis by JP Morgan suggests that Tehran could raise up to $90 billion a year this way, instantly making Iran one of the wealthiest Gulf economies. ⬇️

ISSUES WITH THE NEW CEASEFIRE 1. Israel is not a party and cannot be trusted. 2. It is not locked in until the Strait is open. 3. The BBC reports a soft mutiny inside the Pentagon that could complicate Trump efforts to break or violate the ceasefire. 4. Lebanon is not covered.

I wish people would learn from this. This war served NO ONE. Iran has been destroyed. The US has been humbled. Israel has been bombed and lost support in the US. The Gulf States have been damaged. The global economy has been hit. Who needed this? War is never the answer.

Important to remember that twice in less than a year, the U.S. claimed to be negotiating with Iran and then (with Israel) launched wars against Iran. Trump was in trouble with this war in multiple ways and needed a pause or an offramp. Time will tell what the motive is.

You spend years in American schools hearing about the matchless briliance of the US Constitution and political design, but the inability of that system to meaningfully confront Trump at a moment like this makes even some tinpot Latin American dictatorships look responsible.

The fact remains that this morning, Donald Trump threatened genocide. His party did nothing to push back. A two-week delay doesn't change either of those things.

We didn't have to do this, man... We had a completely well run, relatively normal country not even a year and a half ago. And now everything is just so awful... and so tiring.
