@HeirTatsu I was trying to figure out what you meant, as SpaceX has been working on Starship since around 2016. So I t already has 10 years of development. I found myself agreeing with you, 10 years of developmental is about right. But an additional 10 years, that seems unrealistic.

@Erdayastronaut @HeirTatsu I have a hard time believing any human mission requiring a dozen plus launches and docking in orbit, not to mention refueling, is just too great a safety risk. We really need to think about our lunar goals. Putting tons of materiel on the moon or putting people.

@Jamism360439 @mnmcsofgp @Erdayastronaut LOL. I'm actually pretty okay with 12 going bad—even really bad—because the hardware is all-new. But a good flight 12 or a bad flight 12 does not change my thoughts on a 10-year (vs 2-year) Artemis horizon.

@mnmcsofgp @Erdayastronaut @HeirTatsu I’m hinging my sanity on flight 12, if it goes well then I’m preparing to see orbit maybe next flight, in orbit refueling and a hls next year. If flight 12 goes bad I am genuinely turning off my tv and just ignoring starship for a month or two

I'm somewhere between pessimistic and hopeful weirdly. In 2020 when I saw some of the first Starlink launches, I certainly didn't imagine we'd have 11,000+ Starlinks on orbit already. Just like after seeing the first booster land in 2015, I certainly didn't imagine actually reusing them more than a couple times, and having it still be more of a lucky thing when they recovered and reused a booster, vs the absolute norm. So I don't know. I've seen both sides of this coin. Disappointment and changes drifting farther from the plan (Grey Dragon, dearMoon, any and all MARS timelines), but I've also been shocked by some accomplishments.
