Personal update: I've joined Anthropic. I think the next few years at the frontier of LLMs will be especially formative. I am very excited to join the team here and get back to R&D. I remain deeply passionate about education and plan to resume my work on it in time.

Sadly I am not optimistic for a decent prosecution - the MAX penalty is only $100k and six months, I would guess a $20k fine and no prison for the one guy caught, the other ~5 people associated with the station obviously escaped with the dosh.

SBS6 meldde gisteren bijna achteloos dat er bij dat datacenter een dieselopslagtank staat van maar liefst 1 miljoen liter. Laat dat even bezinken: één miljoen liter diesel. Dus naast het gigantische waterverbruik draait de zogenaamd “duurzame digitale toekomst” blijkbaar óók gewoon op enorme noodgeneratoren en industriële brandstofvoorraden. Opmerkelijk hoe burgers ondertussen tot op de gram CO₂ worden gecontroleerd, terwijl dit soort megacomplexen complete energiecentrales op zichzelf lijken.

KLN's general manager for food and beverage, Caric Cheung, tells me it is "highly forbidden" for drivers to use illegal fuel stations. He says this truck is a subcontractor's and it has been suspended from KLN fleet operations. KLN will also report the matter to the police.

Now the adrenalin has worn off and I am safely in another district... pretty mad about this! How can @hkpoliceforce say there is no evidence of illegal fuelling? One cop said of my video "well, we can't actually see the fuel going into the tank". Unbelievable.

@TheGrouchHK yeah that's why I ran away. I thought I'd lost him when I saw the police van but then he came from ahead so I think he'd used his truck to get ahead to the MTR path after I outran him. Really quite concerned what might have happened if cops hadn't been there.
