After 15 impactful years, I’m leaving EFG (DreamHack and ESL). It's surreal to look back on the journey from nurturing my gaming passion over three decades ago to turning it into a full-time pursuit, shaping the landscape of gaming entertainment. As Business Director for the past 8 years, pioneering commercialization strategies, forging game-changing partnerships with industry giants like @MonsterGaming , and revolutionizing media distribution with platforms such as @Twitch & @YouTubeGaming . What an incredible odyssey it has been—from seven team members of DreamHack to achieving recognition as one of the fastest-growing (winning the DI Gasell award) companies in Sweden 2015, to the merger into EFG, the forefront of esports. From the first World of Warcraft tournament at DreamHack 2009 to spearheading esports initiatives, including the creation of standout products like DreamHack Open (now ESL Challenger) and DreamLeague, it was a privilege to lead alongside an exceptional team as Head of esports for a few years. Yet, amidst the milestones, it's the camaraderie forged with colleagues, the excitement of events and tournaments, and the collaborative efforts in nurturing partnerships that will linger most vividly in my memory. Working with the DreamHack Crew whose dedication made our festivals in Jönköping and across the globe synonymous with gaming epicness. As I step into the next chapter, I am filled with anticipation for the future—eager to witness and contribute to the continued evolution of the esports and gaming industry for at least another 15 years. If you wish to connect, please feel free to reach out via message or email at hellspawnlord85@gmail.com or +46 70 2750558. My last day at EFG is February 21st. @okejjenny Ja det var vid FRA vi släppte all kontroll. Problemet är att det är omöjligt att vrida tillbaka, kommer bli rebeller som är outlaws när staten eller ett företag tagit 100% kontroll av allt.

Retail is catering for some but the core of progression, a long journey, unlocking power. One of my greatest question marks to retail is. Imagine all worlds, quest hubs, instances, raids. If they wouldn’t have become obsolete can you understand how much content the game would have. They have wasted so much development in making so much just viable once, hence why people don’t care as the game doesn’t care about it either. It is all pointless

@Hellspawnlord I started to play lately, my main is level 32. I play tbc anniversary and i also tried hardcore. Retail seems like totally not providing any feeling, is a rush and spam of spells you don't even understand what's the point. Blizzard doesn't have the same employees as it did..

Likeness that Blizzard get WoW Classic+ right is below slim. I have played WoW Vanilla on the “highest level” 1-60 speedrun, Hardcore world first. Speedruns, mass pvps, ungoro/lotus mafia, ranking etc. Seeing blizzard first do SoD and then this tripple retail expansion justs show they don’t have a grasp of what the audience and the game needs. What Blizzard was the worlds best of was replay ability. Diablo 1-2, Warcraft 1-3, StarCraft 1. You always wanted to play one more game, solo, with friends or against a random online opponent. Still today you return, WoW is their ultimate version of this. The urge for a new “fresh server”, if you are an ultra nerd like myself going all in or a casual wanting a new adventure in Scarlet Monastery. Today’s Blizzard have no clue why it works like that. Don’t give the audience what they think want, give them what they didn’t know they wanted. 1) main character game, one of the lost greatness in today’s gaming is that you should be able to jump on, catch up, start over. The result becomes that it is meaningless. Regardless if you have one level 38 or 8x lvl 60s. You will always have one main. That is better suited, better geared, more utility quests done. As things takes so much time to complete and even in worlds first guilds you split farm, you still have mains. Sure last years it has lost a lot of that feeling for the very most tryhards but still is true in hardcore 2)Start and efficiency matters. If you are very experienced you can get a head of the pack and it matters. You will level faster, you will get control of the economy as your character progress you can do new things or do old things faster, better, safer. There is no timer for a mythic chest or any shit. It is your time, enjoyment, satisfaction. Doing a strat ud in under 30 mins. That ZG+AQ20 in 1hour. Getting that epic mount or 10000g in supplies so you can raid without having to farm more. 3) Content gets added not irrelevant. Wow had an amazing design philosophy almost unbelievable how well thought it was, given how fast they rushed it. Among the way to 60 you pick up certain items that you will need later, that gives you power spikes etc. If it is Thrash Blade in Maraudon that you replace by spamming Rend runs in Ubrs or what not. But the game forces you always to return. Even when you speedrun Naxx and are decked out you will still do MC for Thunderfury and some few items. BWL for trinkets, ZG for enchant and maybe a mount. In Tier 0.5 chain you return to all instances basically. Maybe your guild is progressing and need that frost res and you are back spamming dungeons because you didn’t pick that item up 1 year earlier. The game is for most endless. But constantly rewarding 4) it’s a social game, how you act, your skill, style is mattering. Regardless of year and how the game developed most people will make those friends in Red Ridge Mountains. Where you struggle and need some help for the elite quests. Many times those people have later become guild mates and friends at 60. The game by design don’t forces you to play in group, it’s not the fastest typically but it’s the most fun and relaxing. The game encourages you by nature to interact, be social, handle those oddballs and “maniacs” it is a social adventure but it bounds people together and tbh it does a better job than real life. Last 5th for Sunken Temple anyone? So many people I have interacted with over 20 years that I would never bothered, had the patience or the opportunity to get to know. We needed each other in the game, we shared those late night spawn campings and we did that 100th run so we got that item which had 2 more AP. Wow Vanilla is simply a great game with a core of a social game where almost everyone fits, even the social outcasts and villains. The game industry is suffering, but it’s not because people don’t like games or play less. It’s because game designers give you what you think you want, not what you didn’t knew you wanted.

@gharzok @AzerothPulse Yea but even if I did play private it is a severe intrusion of IP. Before classic you couldn’t play vanilla. But yea overall they have no clue on where to take the game and how to protect what people fell in love with

@AzerothPulse @Hellspawnlord same playbook as 2019. ban all private servers who done a way better job, release a worse version that already exists on private severs, milk it for a year or two until no one cares anymore and come up with the next shit they stole from the next version of private servers.

@AzerothPulse It is horrendous after SoD, mega disaster of a game which people somehow liked. To me it was the biggest waste of development time ever

@Hellspawnlord They don’t have the talent or desire anymore. I suspect they release a bad version of classic plus that slow to update and they don’t listen to feedback as usual.

@Hellspawnlord Best elaboration ive ever seen regarding this. People as so blissfully ignorant thinking Classic+ will somehow be good enough to overtake the original vanilla (or even tbc/wrath) experience. Retail is what it is today because players got too much of what they asked for.

Historien kanske upprepas igen.

the 4 founders of idSoft and "Doom" are going to reunite for the first time since 1993 next month

I have been trying to find something meaningful to say about the Id Software layoffs. My “Microsoft will probably be a good steward of the brand” statement isn’t aging well, and this is certainly going to dampen the mood of the founder reunion at QuakeCon next month. I’m saddened, but I can’t muster anger or outrage over it. I don’t have access to the books, but I suspect that Id Software was a marginal business from Microsoft’s perspective. I believe the reports that Minecraft revenues have been carrying several other studios. To continue being produced long term, games need to succeed, not just be beloved. Games are competing with every other option for spending your leisure time and money, and the competition is brutal. You can’t rule out the possibility that executives are idiots, but that shouldn’t be your default belief. I don’t think there is any obvious path that would have doubled the revenue from Id games. Could they have gotten more with a different pricing strategy? Could they have created more things for fans to buy? Could they have cost effectively marketed in a way that reached more players that would have loved and bought the games? Could they have changed the game designs and broadened the appeal to more players without alienating existing ones? Could they have produced the games at a lower cost, faster or cheaper? I really don’t know. The game isn’t over yet, and I hope the studio rallies through.

Think they are sadomasochists, nothing wrong with that but odd expression. I raced to 100, hated the ”ptr practice”, the race was horrible and never touched it again. D3 I did play at some point after release but still horrible. D2 I will always return to and yea PoE is simply a masterpiece

remember back in school when someone said a funny joke then there would be someone repeating it for weeks and it's not funny anymore? that's people still saying D4 bad - release was hilariously bad, worse than a solo dev $10 indie game. but now it's a pretty good game
Hazey@hazeykthx

I swear the Path of Exile community spends more time on this app complaining about Diablo than they do actually playing PoE. Both offer a different experience. You're allowed to like one or the other but I'll never understand why they try to attempt to belittle others
