@samingram5 That doesn't make trash art valuable. But it's also money laundering scheme. Supposedly rather than pay taxes they can donate paintings to museums worth a certain amount in taxes. Paintings which although worth that amount on paper they received for free.

@samingram5 It's been reimagined as a way to buck traditional ideals of beauty. Possibly since the 1950s and a certain German socialist's love for traditional art and architecture. But they also claim beautiful paintings and handcrafts people can buy from Walmart for $5. So they're "unique".
