We need to do better for IMGs. It’s not just about allowing them to practice—it’s about making sure they’re supported and treated with the respect they deserve.

The stress, the poor treatment, and the lack of real educational support took a toll. I truly believe it contributed to his illness at such a young age.

I came across a post saying that in some states, foreign-trained doctors may soon be able to practice without completing U.S. training or exams. It made me think of Damoun. I met Damoun on his first day of PGY-2.

@Foxhound131 @HemeoncF Pts like Damoun who no longer are eligible for trials ~~> access to immediate compassionate use. Protections for companies that encourages and incentivizes. Tax breaks, faster review times, firewall CU data (so it doesn’t count as strike against them), and liability protection.

Damoun was exploring compassionate care options when we found a promising medication that could help with lymphangitic carcinomatosis. The company declined access, and he couldn’t join the trial. I emailed after he passed.

@Foxhound131 @Scooter0732 I get it too… they are many risks that come with drugs being tested however there should be some power in informed consent… I am not sure if has anything to do with FDA as companies set the rules if they want to give the drug out or not

@Scooter0732 @HemeoncF I totally get why they don’t do it, but that’s a bigger systemic issue. There should be carve outs for the data, FDA needs to acknowledge that they are incentivizing limiting compassionate use
