The incident has reignited debate around a pattern of similar claims that have surfaced in the past. Observers point to previous high-profile cases—such as Joana Mamombe @JoanaMamombe and her colleagues, as well as the 2021 Nyabira incident involving a doctor found unharmed with a fully charged phone—which later attracted widespread scepticism. These cases have contributed to growing public caution whenever new abduction allegations emerge.
