One reason I am bullish on Amazon Now is that it has an enormous unfair advantage: data. It knows exactly which products from which brands actually work in specific markets and contexts. Meanwhile, most quick commerce companies are still building product assortments based on a) the judgment of category managers and b) how strong a brand’s relationship is with those category managers.

Thanks Mukul. Really appreciate you sharing this about one of my favourite socks ever(i am hell biased) Whenever I pitch Frido Active Socks engineering, I get laughed at. It’s taken us 6–8 months to get this from the idea board to reality. The layer that touches the skin is made of a different yarn composition than the layer that touches the shoe, to ensure a high percentage of cotton against the skin. The composition is primarily optimized to make it breathable while being thick and cushioned at the heels. If there were a marathon contest for how long a sock can be worn without smelling, Frido Active Socks may end up setting at least a national record. I know of a few international benchmarks that perform similarly. It is roughly 8–10% wider than regular socks. The seams are not felt at all. Why doesn’t it have a perfect rating? Two reasons. It’s expensive, and it can get a bit linty because of the cotton content, but it lasts long. People are so used to firmly shaped polyester socks that they expect it to stay exactly as it was when they bought it. That’s not how any breathable material behaves in socks.
