@HiddenRooms @pub_that Say how you're feeling, but make it clear that nothing is going to get cheaper after that! Have a look at the MA's website for a summary of the budget if you want to bone up.

Minimum wage when we took our first pub was £6.50, this budget will have almost doubled that…I can tell you now that most people felt much better off back then. Increasing min wage does nothing to make people better off when you’re taxing them to poverty!

@pub_that True story: a ‘sensible’ punter last Thursday; “you sell it on behalf of the brewery, don’t you? They give you drinks and then you just sell them..” Me: “that’s getting ✍🏽 in the quote book!” 🤪 Most, don’t know the way that anything works. We must always keep that in mind.

@HiddenRooms Say what ever you think but make sure you say something…a lot of customers will see that -1p a pint and don’t realise it won’t even make it to us let alone them. We are still seeing a huge wage hike as well a massive hike in biz rates bills.

Chancellor talks about the difficult decisions - employer NIC to rise to 15%, earnings threshold to be halved to £5l. Employers allowance doubled to £10.5k. A significant increase in jobs tax and and employment costs means business will have to make difficult decisions too

If rumours are true then hospitality biz face an announcement of ⬆️ Employer National Insurance ⬆️ Living Wage + Lowering the age threshold ⬆️Business Rates & possible ⬆️ Beer duty. Without any offset to these costs for small biz it will surely close many and cost jobs.

A grown man who threw a hissy fit & walked out of our restaurant when a young girl half his age requested his rowdy group “keep the noise down a bit” has sent me a gift box containing “essentials” for dealing with hissy fits 🤷🏻‍♂️ The contents are really quite weird.
