Flight delayed on tarmac. Missed our connection. Based on the other flights available, which were also delayed, and the fact that taking a flight tomorrow would require getting back into a security line stretching seemingly for miles, we decided to get a car and drive five hours to our destination. That’s how bad air travel is right now. Driving is faster.
Air travel is awful in this country. People don’t realize just how much it sucks unless they have to do it a lot. It’s not just TSA. Flight delays. Air traffic control issues. Service is even worse than usual. Every airport is crowded and slow and worn down and dirty. Everyone brings their dogs. The term “service animal” doesn’t mean anything anymore.
Air travel used to be luxurious. People used to wear suits. Working for an airline was prestigious. The employees took it seriously. It sucks now. It’s terrible. This is the kind of thing our leaders should be fixing. Because the most frustrating thing is that it is so eminently fixable. If only anyone bothered to try.

@bavedikian Similar issue. Needed docs from IRS for business. Said they could fax it or mail it. Fax didn’t go through which is soooo “secure”, so we opted or USPS which is even worse. Still don’t have my documents. Weird for 2026.

I was on the phone with the IRS today. I need a document from them.
They asked me for my fax number. Told them I’ve never used a fax machine.
They said they have to send the document in the mail and I’d receive it in 15-20 business days.
People on X have wildly unrealistic expectations about AI adoption.
The largest employer in America (the federal government) still can’t email documents to paying customers like me.
And in 2040, they’ll still be asking people for their fax number.

[NEWS] EVs may be cheaper to “refuel,” but they’re a lot more expensive to insure:
By the numbers (EVs vs gas-powered cars):
– EV insurance premiums jumped 16% over the past year and now average 49% higher than gas cars ($4,058 vs. $2,732 annually).
– EV collisions are also 22% pricier to fix.
– And totaled EVs end up costing 18% more on average to replace.
Essentially, a higher-priced car that’s more expensive to repair, (and fewer places to fix it) can raise insurance costs.
The problem is…
Rising premiums pile onto already high EV costs just as federal tax credits are set to expire.
And without stronger state incentives or lower-priced models, affordability will remain one of the segment’s biggest roadblocks.
