Dario and Sam are built different. This weekend proved it. Sundar needed 430 employees to write him an open letter before he’d say anything about the biggest AI policy crisis in history. Satya’s been restructuring deal terms. Cook still treats AI like a feature update. Zuckerberg open sourced Llama and went quiet. Dario and Sam were working Friday night. Friday afternoon the Pentagon blacklists Anthropic from every federal agency. Designates them a “supply chain risk,” a label normally reserved for foreign adversaries. $200M contract, gone. Dario sits for a CBS News interview that night. Calls it “retaliatory and punitive.” Says “disagreeing with the government is the most American thing in the world.” The interview airs Saturday morning, nationally. Sam spends Friday negotiating a classified network deal with the same Pentagon that just torched his biggest competitor. Closes it Friday night. Posts the announcement on X. Saturday night he’s back doing a public AMA, admitting the deal was “rushed” and the optics “don’t look good.” Answers every hard question anyway. This weekend was extraordinary but the work rate behind it isn’t new. Sam was doing Reddit AMAs at midnight during the o3 launch. Dario published a 15,000-word essay on AI’s future between fundraising rounds. Sam shipped 12 major model releases in 2025. Dario personally reviews safety evals before every Claude deployment. These two treat weekends like Wednesdays. The gap is compounding. Sam and Dario are in the room negotiating with the Pentagon on a Friday night while the rest of big tech waits for Monday’s news cycle to draft a press statement. They’re making decisions in hours that would take a Fortune 500 CEO a quarter of board meetings to approve. Every week they operate at this intensity and their competitors don’t, the distance grows. AI moves on a 24/7 clock. Most CEOs still run on a 9-to-5 calendar. That mismatch is showing up everywhere: in model releases, in policy influence, in the speed of government deals, in talent recruitment. Two guys who used to share an office at OpenAI. Can’t hold hands at a photo op in India. And they’re outworking every other CEO on the planet while doing it.

@DayDayBurner1 @chamath Hardly under reported. I could probably see small townships popping up or similar schedules to working away/fifo to maintain data centers with how much they affect local residents.

Google was about to lose a vote by the Indianapolis City council and withdrew a proposal for a $1B data center. Microsoft pulled a similar project in Wisconsin based on community pushback. Are these isolated incidents or the beginning of a trend? If the data below is accurate, then we should expect that more local communities will pushback to stop data center buildouts in their region if it spikes electricity prices so much. A solution, however, is for these hyperscalers to use their robust free cashflow to go into local areas and pay for solar+storage or pay for the electricity for every resident. Either way, the hyperscalers should take the electricity costs of local residents to zero and start buying goodwill. Otherwise, I expect more local communities to push back on these data centers which will complicate the AI buildout that needs to happen.
Bloomberg@business

Wholesale electricity costs as much as 267% more than it did five years ago in areas near data centers. That’s being passed on to customers. bloomberg.com/graphics/2025-…

TikTok US selling for <1x revenue… Maybe I’m missing something but this reminds me of the oligarchs in Russia, license raj in India, privatization in Mexico etc… being close to political power lets folks buy up crown-jewel assets at a fraction of their true value.

@FoolGreatest @sfmcguire79 That's a pretty immature view of what politics should be since before social media this is how it was done. Instigation isn't relevant either. It's initiating.

What a cop out. One can recognize that murder is bad and simultaneously recognize that making a career of going to college campuses for the sole purpose of instigating and agitating undergraduate students isn’t a smart or useful career. And that exact brand of politics, “anything to own the libs” is why he was targeted and murdered. Politics with the pure goal of pissing off your opponent is not “practicing politics the right way.” It’s the exact opposite. It’s the bastardization of politics that leads to political violence. That was his goal. He was not shy about it, it was featured prominently in his content. It was the point. And he was finally proven wrong. May his memory be a blessing and a reminder that we should do better and stop treating politics like a game, stop treating people who disagree with you like an enemy. Conversation is for seeking understanding, not a tool to “own the libs.”

Ezra Klein on Charlie Kirk: “You can dislike much of what Kirk believed and the following statement is still true: Kirk was practicing politics in exactly the right way. He was showing up to campuses and talking with anyone who would talk to him. He was one of the era’s most effective practitioners of persuasion. When the left thought its hold on the hearts and minds of college students was nearly absolute, Kirk showed up again and again to break it. Slowly, then all at once, he did. College-age voters shifted sharply right in the 2024 election. “That was not all Kirk’s doing, but he was central in laying the groundwork for it. I did not know Kirk and I am not the right person to eulogize him. But I envied what he built. A taste for disagreement is a virtue in a democracy. Liberalism could use more of his moxie and fearlessness. In the inaugural episode of his podcast, Gov. Gavin Newsom of California hosted Kirk, admitting that his son was a huge fan. What a testament to Kirk’s project.” “Kirk and I were on different sides of most political arguments. We were on the same side on the continued possibility of American politics. It is supposed to be an argument, not a war; it is supposed to be won with words, not ended through bullets. I wanted Kirk to be safe for his sake, but I also wanted him to be safe for mine, and for the sake of our larger shared project. The same is true for Shapiro, for Hoffman, for Hortman, for Thompson, for Trump, for Pelosi, for Whitmer. We are all safe, or none of us are.”

It looks like someone knew about the Intel, $INTC, possible government expansion. JUST BEFORE THE NEWS, LITERALLY TODAY, there were huge call volumes and premiums, with more calls trading at the ask than bid. $INTC has had several days in a row of consistent bullish flows. And these traders likely made millions. Unusual.

Dude, I want to be respectful about this, but you really have some issues. Like you do NOT understand how to take wins humbly. At all. I’m embarrassed for you. It’s the same nonsense that caused you to say Arny got lucky for HOOD. It’s the same nonsense for you tagging me in some idiotic post about me picking Apple over Hims in the stockdraft — I could’ve easily responded to that post when HIMS fell 30% after you said “bookmark this” but I didn’t because I’m not a jerk. And once again, it’s the same nonsense of you completely misrepresenting our position which is that the market is not PERCEIVING sofi as a tech company which is why we even did the debate, why would we have had that conversation if SoFi wasn’t underperforming? Steve and I both are long for the sole reason that although there are issues, we laid out why we thought the market isnt valuing it like a tech company but we still hold it because we see it is as undervalued. Do you want me to go dig up the post where you said “do you really think buying hood at 20 is better than buying sofi at 7?” because I could easily do that, quote tweet it with the stock prices, and try to dunk on you. You are insecure. I don’t know why, but you constantly needing to post stuff like this is the opposite of being humble and it’s sad. All your followers will defend you in the comments but just realize you are absolutely being a jerk — I knew when you said Hood was just luck for Arny that you rubbed me the wrong way and now you are only confirming that. I have NEVER dunked on anyone for my wins in $PLTR and $HOOD. Part of being a creator that people respect is doing this humbly. You have no idea how to do that but I hope you learn one day.

Since @Futurenvesting and I debated @amitisinvesting and @stevenfiorillo on whether or not $SOFI is a tech company or just a bank on May 31, it's up 40%+. A main crux of their argument was that the market doesn't give it the same premium as a tech company, so the market doesn't consider it a tech company, so it isn't a tech company. So, now that its up 40% and it is literally the exact same company, is it a tech company since the market is now paying more of a premium? Or does it only become a tech company once it's above $20 or $25? What price makes it a tech company? Or maybe deciding what a company is based purely on price action is a foolish way to think about it?

My kids salary sacrifice 10% of their weekly income into superannuation on top of the government mandated super; they’ve done it since their first pay cheque. BTW, they do not earn above the average weekly wage. If the socialist government brings in this new, un-indexed tax on unrealised capital gains in super, I will advise my kids, and help them, to buy an investment property instead. This is exactly against my wishes for Australian domestic property (I prefer domestic housing to be affordable for everyone), however, FAFO! Every new tax has a consequence.
