Every time the state passed a bill to lower property taxes, the city of Justin and Northwest ISD have been right there with new bond issues to pick up what ever savings you may have gotten., The biggest part of the problem that no one wants to talk about, is they need to take taxing authority away from the ISD’s. They need to find a better way not fund schools without taxing people out of their homes.

Texas people...have you had your property tax go down at all in the past 5 years? I am sick of the BS @GregAbbott_TX is spinning on this. Something substantial needs to be done about cities hiking up the rates and wiping out any benefits of the homestead exemption.

I am pretty sure my wife and I had to do something similar about a month ago when purchasing our house. I remember we had 2 options. This one and maybe bank statements. It’s not the state, it’s the ISD’s and their obsession with tax money 75%of my property tax goes to Northwest ISD. Not the city, not Denton county, not one cent to the state. But boy NISD is always their frying poverty and comes back like clock work every two year for another billion in bonds.

Texas doesn’t have state income tax. What it DOES have is a property tax bill that resets every year based on whatever your home is “worth now.” Mine went up $3,800 in a single year. I didn’t get a raise. My house didn’t get bigger. The state just decided it needed more money. At least california is honest about robbing you.

US refineries can't process the oil that is produced in Texas. It's all for export. US oil is too light for the refineries in the US; they are all built to process heavy crude. That is why even though we are a net energy exporter, most of our oil is imported (even if mostly from Canada).
