@HighOnCaps OK, yeah. To have a stadium at the terminus of all rapid transit with THAT view is AAA prime. But this City/Province is incapable of thinking in those terms. The first thought is always “why WON’T this work?” That whole concept was navigated VERY poorly by the wrong people.

Why is this not the #1 preferred site? Foundation is already there along with the positive memories. Yes, it will displace some user groups, but there’s a WC legacy field going in at Killarney that should provide half of that field time.

Trying to find some specific holiday photos when I stumbled across these photos from Timbers vs Whitecaps on August 3rd 2013. A 1-1 draw with Jordan Harvey levelling the game up for #VWFC. What a crowd we took. Maybe if things settle, we get back to that. Anyone see themselves?

Vancouver Liberals mayoral candidate Kareem Allam appears not to be in favour of the Whitecaps Hastings racecourse plans. With BC Place not being deemed viable long term for the 'Caps, will be interesting to hear what he and others then propose as a site. Let us know Kareem!

That's the best idea. The original plan is the best at CWD: 2 SkyTrain lines, 1 train line, 1 SeaBus, ample parking, a non-residential neighbourhood (no noise complaints), ample space for an entertainment district (critical to the revenue model), and the team owner already owns the land. The Minnesota Twins just built their stadium over rail, so the safety precedent has been addressed. It's a spectacular location that uplifts downtown.

My dad was the GM of Al Ahly FC and won three African Cups. My cousin works with Leeds FC. My other cousin is a former soccer sports broadcaster in Doha. I was born in a Gunners jersey. I’ve been a season ticket holder for the Whitecaps for four seasons. I love soccer. I love the Whitecaps. I just don’t think square pegs fit in round holes, and I believe as the Whitecaps dig into the site they will ultimately pass on it (for the reasons in my previous post). That’s just my feeling, but it’s a feeling rooted being around this business my whole life. The right thing to do is pursue studies on multiple sites simultaneously, particularly ones next to transit. Entertainment districts, which are so critical to the revenue model, do much better with transit than without. If I’m wrong and the Whitecaps decide to invest on the PNE site then it’s great for the Whitecaps and soccer fans. But I just don’t think they will. I hope I’m wrong.

Is MLS going to wait years while we find the perfect site? PNE might not be the best on paper, but from public knowledge it’s all we really have.
