The scene where he shows his kid having their own bricks to play with is to show how he bought some as an excuse to get away from his kid instead.

@Charlot08254345 @litteralyme0 so they can somewhat feel a connection with their Dad despite knowing the consequence. It's actually great what this movie has done. It has not merely become an animated film dedicated to a franchise primarily for kids, but one that's aware of the social issues surrounding it.

And here it's apparent for us to see that buying something else to accompany our kids in substitute for our absence is just not a definitive answer. Possibly due to that, the kid chooses to mess with their Dad stuff
