As my attempt to tick off the Beighton toute with @EastMidRailway failed miserably, I've found the perfect spot to wait for @CrossCountryUK to save the day. Luckily, @SheffieldTap is adjacent to my platform

@tedgushlow I was purely on 1F70 for the routing via Beighton, but as we were delayed, we ran direct. Now awaiting Cross Country to Derby to save the day.

@HighSpeed_H Until the meridians have all been replaced with the new auroras I'm going to do the alternative route. Cross country to Tamworth (can be done from Derby, Notts, Sheffield) then LNWR or Avanti down to Euston. Ends up cheaper but takes longer. Avanti is a genuinely nice experience.

Every time I travel with EMR out of St Pancras, I swear never again, and yet here I am again. 10 car, reduced to 5, but 2 of those inhabitable due to faulty air con. The TM saying the trains are not fit for purpose says it all.

Been an interesting duty today, one part of which saw me passing to station which I’ve never been through on duty which was St Pancras. I do love a turn where we PASS on our High Speed services over HS1 as you genuinely don’t realise how fast they’re going until you arrive!

@MonsieurPiddly There is a brand I use in Portugal. Same, if you use their App, join the club. 10% discount on accomodation and any food/beverage. Oh, and you only pay for the room at check-in ✅

Just booked 2 nights in a hotel in Luxembourg, that wanted £210, retail price, but found if you downloaded their app, signed up for their rewards program, you not only got a 5% discount, but also instant points, which you could use on the first booking, bringing it to £158! Boom.

@AndyBTravels My last job off of St Pancras tonight was delayed due to a trespasser who’d run off the end of my platform, across the tracks, and boarded a waiting Eurostar departure! As he was eventually hauled away in handcuffs, I’m guessing he didn’t like queuing for the booth’s either.

The Eurostar area at St Pancras really is not very good - I’m being measured in my words…. What can be done?

@DkwonMark With our scheme, all in all its £579 every 4 weeks, but you save £150 on NI and income tax per pay day. The most I've paid to charge is £24 on the motorway. Normally £6-11 at home. Mine has a 350 mile range.
