@anitathetweeter Reminds me of the time we were looking forward to the new "restaurant and bar" at Highbury Corner. Turned out to be a Wetherspoons.

This #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek, we urge decision-makers to be ambitious and devise a long-term plan for the wellbeing of all of our children & young people. Focusing on earlier intervention will help to relieve pressure on our NHS & contribute positively to the economy. (3/5)

@LucyFacer @Paul_Convery @RowChampion @staff_heather Is there evidence that people are making fewer car journeys overall? I’m brave enough to admit that that my own behaviour hasn’t changed: I often cycle or walk but I do still drive - same number of car journeys but now each one just takes a bit longer (so is more polluting!).

This is why we need LTNs👇any variations allowing through traffic stops them from working. They only work if they are inconvenient for drivers. And reaching 2030 carbon net zero targets will require some inconveniences @Paul_Convery @RowChampion @staff_heather
Giulio Ferrini@GiulioFerrini

For mode shift, you need a stick When people ask: can’t we just use speed humps? Or can’t we exempt residents from the filters? LTNs lead to mode shift when they combine the stick of driver inconvenience (a fixed time tax of a few mins) with the carrot of safer streets

Ahead of a cold winter, we anticipate a high demand for coats and winter accessories. If your little one(s) has grown out of last year's winter coat, consider donating it to support a family in need. For donation info go to littlevillagehq.org/donate-stuff/

As a Council Leader, I have to make tough choices every day. But providing universal free school meals in Islington's primary schools isn't one of them, it's a no brainer. Delighted to speak on @BBCr4Today this morning about @IslingtonBC's long-standing free school meals policy

But this plan doesn’t contain detail on how this will be achieved or funded. We need to see the delivery of the Government’s 10-year mental health plan so that no child or young person faces #mentalhealth issues alone. (2/2)

When someone well-known dies, it can be difficult to know how to support children and young people through that loss. We’ve shared some advice to help families and schools support children over the coming days. place2be.org.uk/about-us/news-…

@meropemills Thinking of you and your family today Merope, and above all remembering your beautiful Martha. Thank you for sharing the details of your unbelievably heartbreaking experience - it must have been so incredibly hard to write but is so important for as many as possible to read.

@CarolineRussell Totally agree Caroline. However, the no.4 bus route has been badly affected by the increased traffic on St Paul’s Rd/Highbury corner, resulting in longer journey times and a less reliable service. Surely this must have been a factor in the TFL proposal to scrap it?

Many Islington residents have been in touch to say how much they value the number 4 bus. Scrapping the route will make it so much harder for people to get around. The government should not be playing with TfL funding. These bus cuts must be stopped. actionnetwork.org/petitions/save…

@iamfinlay @bex_osborn @HighburyKeep @hwallop It certainly has an Emperor’s New Clothes feel to it - if we just on keep telling everyone how brilliant the LTN is, they’ll ignore what they can actually see with their own eyes. And/or they will want to be "in" with the right people so will pretend they like it.

Does the council have any expertise in traffic management..or is it making up half baked solutions on the trot? It seems like the council will do anything except open up the LTNs. It’s a farce
Islington Council@IslingtonBC

From tonight, we’re also temporarily suspending several parking bays on Blackstock Road, to support the flow of traffic. Parking enforcement teams are working 24/7 in the area to address any illegal parking which may be contributing to the congestion. (3/4)

@IslingtonBC It demonstrates utter incompetence that these (measly) measures weren’t put in place proactively. PLEASE stop being so stubborn - open up the filters so traffic isn’t sitting outside Ambler school for an hour spewing out fumes. As an LTN resident I support that solution.

We expect that these measures will help improve congestion during the works, which are expected to be completed by Saturday, 2 April. We will continue to monitor this and, if necessary, will urgently revisit the situation. (4/4).

We’d like to thank local people for their patience while @ThamesWater carry out work on #SevenSistersRoad. We’re aware that this is causing congestion in the surrounding area, and are working closely with @TfL and @ThamesWater to address this.⬇️ (1/4)

@HighburyPenguin @kaejlaab @HighburyKeep Yes - I live inside an LTN and don’t support it! And I think the majority my neighbours feel similarly. Sadly a few who are in the minority appear to be the ones who are listened to.

@kaejlaab @HighburyKeep Think you'll find it's the cycling campaigners who are driving this agenda. They aren't affected when the buses are ruined.
