I’m now available for scanning projects too (up to A3 size). This includes single and bound documents for all collection types. Get in touch if you have a digitisation project I can assist with!

@CatherineMacP12 It was spectacular before the shinty game and on the drive home! Apparently that part of the hill hasn’t been burned for a long time.

@joshsimonstweet Thing is, people saying things like that matters to us in the north of Scotland. Puerile, idiotic comments which your apology does not make up for.

Following my comments on LBC last night, I apologise for any negative insinuation about Scotland. I’m half Scottish, I love the country and it is where much of my family comes from. It was a poorly judged comment made in jest and doesn’t reflect my views, or the views of the Labour Party. I was seeking to draw attention to the immorality of housing asylum seekers who are fleeing persecution on a barge while smuggler gangs get off free under the Conservatives.

3/3: I’m often reminded that we’re great at inventing lesser versions of ourselves, often accidentally, & selling it constantly & widely. I want to do what I can to challenge that & to be proud, honest, reflective & mindful of the reality of who we are, not the simplified version

2/3: In 2024, continuing on, one of my aims is to use social media to INSPIRE INTEREST in real and deeper things/understandings/people/businesses that inspire me and are part of who I am, as much as being part of the culture and history that this business aims to share.

1/3: In 2023, one of my aims for the year was to use social media to REFLECT my activities; rather than conducting my activities to FEED social media content. That, I think, was achieved pretty well.

I refuse to believe this is real. If I didn't need therapy before, I certainly do now because I cannot stop thinking about this??

@arranlouise Not entirely the same topic: But I’ve been working with someone this week who has inspired me hugely. Amongst other things, he and his now wife agreed to create a new shared surname when they got married. Both taking a new name that they agreed would be their children’s name. 🙏

I always worry that this will be taken the wrong way and people will think it's insulting towards my girls dad - but not giving my kids my surname is one of my biggest regrets. (It's their middle name) So much so that I'm changing their names (with support from their da)

@CatherineMacP12 I don’t feel like I should “❤️” this, but by doing so I’m recognising how important these things you’re finding are in our understanding of the ever-developing community depletion of the Highlands and Islands. So, for that, thank you!

Researching the 1919 land settlement act , some correspondence between landowners from Uist and Skye landowners in relation to proposed settlements. "The so-called "land hunger" is a passing wave. The cities & colonies will absorb all our surplus population.' Dec 28th 1921

A letter by King James I and VI, born 19 June 1566. A six-year-old James wrote this letter to “Lady Minny” - his guardian, Lady Annabella Murray - thanking her for a gift of fruit. Find other remarkable documents in #NRSArchives 👇 bit.ly/NRSImages

@arranlouise Yep. Priced for the rich who (showing my scepticism here) probs haven’t developed a adult-life-long career in the Highlands or are unlikely to have been living here long to earn the sort of spare income required to purchase up the land & probably view it as a profitable asset. 😞

@HighldHistorian And the worst part about it is that it would be unmortgageable. It's actually so so depressing.

@arranlouise It’s ridiculous that people don’t realise how using words like “celebrate” for something like this just isn’t appropriate. I’m very willing to be “that guy”.

Don't want to be that guy but I've seen a few museums and groups now posting about "celebrating" the anniversary of the Battle of Culloden... Yes it was a long time ago but I still think we need to think about our wording here? Commemorate would be more appropriate... 😬😬
