On January 28 Mandelson was denied developed vetting clearance for his post as our man in DC On January 30 the formal Foreign Office offer hiring him said ‘your [developed vetting — DV] security clearance has been confirmed by the Vetting Unit.’ We now know this not to be correct. He had failed DV status. So who in these two days decided to overrule the vetters? What possible motive could Robbins have for taking such a huge decision on his own, without reference to No 10 or the cabinet office or even the Foreign Sec (then Lammy)?

@GillianKeel2 @boswelltoday I think that, in the light of the inconsistency within the judgement and the incorrect quotations, any appeal will result in the matter being referred back to another Tribunal. If the Appeal Tribunal rules the Judge has erred in law then they might change any/all the outcomes.

@boswelltoday If, as is suggested in this piece, the ruling is withdrawn altogether, where does that leave us? Would all evidence have to be heard again?

You would not believe my current dilemma. Friends from Spain are coming to visit for a week. They have a 3 yr old "ninfant", a lovely lad. He will need a car seat. My ninfant car seat has been sequestered by Lilly The Maine Coon as her day-time sofa. Evict Lula or buy a new one?
