Bayern have internally declared the Champions League semifinals as a minimum goal for this season, not only from a sporting but also a financial perspective. Since there's no income from the Club World Cup this year, the Champions League revenues are crucial (at least an extra €15m for reaching the semis). Otherwise there would be a risk of making a loss this financial year [@cfbayern, @SPORTBILD]

@SenMcConnell No chance you wrote this tweet but 100% chance you voted to confirm Kent. Kent is an asshat, but that didn’t matter until he wasn’t a GOP shill and warmonger.

U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell
Joe Kent testified before the Senate one year ago that Iran and its terror proxies threatened U.S. servicemembers in the Middle East. He said it would be an honor to return to the fight against terrorism, and he pledged to lead with integrity and accountability. The virulent anti-Semitism of his resignation letter makes it clear that Mr. Kent is incapable of upholding these pledges, and those who mistake its baseless and incendiary conspiracies for brave truth-telling are only fooling themselves. Isolationists and anti-Semites have no place in either party, and certainly do not deserve places of trust in our government.

Union Berlin managing director Horst Heldt criticizes Bayern's complaints about the refereeing and says it will influence the referee at next week's game: "This is simply out of order with regard to the other teams, such a scale of it. And we are the ones suffering. We will be the ones suffering next week. And that's unacceptable. It simply carries a different weight when Bayern Munich publicly addresses such topics. There are always situations where clubs get somewhat upset about decisions. I don't exclude myself from that either. But what's happening right now is incomparable. The next refereeing team at the next match, good luck with that. Bayern have done so many things right in recent years, which is why they're where they are. But they also have to live up to their responsibilities from time to time" [Sky]

@PierrePoilievre This from a man who lost his own riding (voters rejected him) then made a backroom deal to have another MP step aside so he could run in a safer riding. All why still resident in Stornoway. Spare us Skippy.

Mark Carney is using back room deals to seize a costly majority that voters rejected, which will enable Liberals to balloon debt, inflate the cost of living, block resources and turn criminals loose on our streets. Conservatives will do what we promised voters: fight for a Canada that is affordable, safe and strong at home and unbreakable abroad.

Tilman catches Madueke and it’s a clear penalty. I’m not sure what the complaints are about. Havertz steps up and puts it away, 1–1

@MikeWeber050 @VFinnishProbs You lot showed up for a fucking cup of coffee in WW1. In WW2 you sat on the sidelines until Pearl Harbour and didn’t have soldiers in Europe until 1942. Three fucking years after the war started. You’re the perfect example of why a pedo like Trump got elected (twice)

@VFinnishProbs No, it says we don’t need countries to join wars after they’ve already been won. If you think WW1 and WW2 were being won by the allies prior to US involvement, I’d urge you to go pick up a history book.

Prime Minister Carney continues to demonstrate a worrying trend: Running away from accountability and refusing to answer questions.   The PM, his Ministers and his officials continue to contradict themselves - on India and on Iran. And the PM refuses to clarify what the government’s position actually is.    On India, last week a Carney government official said India is no longer meddling and conducting foreign interference activities, transnational repression or violence in Canada. This week, CSIS said the opposite: That India is still one of the main perpetrators of foreign interference and espionage activities in Canada.   On Iran, last week Mr. Carney was unequivocal in supporting U.S. airstrikes against Iran when he said, “Canada supports the United States acting to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to prevent its regime from further threatening international peace and security.”   In contrast, Minister Anand said this week, “We prefer a diplomatic solution,” and "Canada believes in a diplomatic and peaceful solution.”    And Minister McGuinty managed to say both contradictory things at once: That the government supports the U.S. airstrikes and supports a ceasefire. “The Prime Minister and the government decided from the beginning of this that we would support this incursion. But we're also calling for a diplomatic end to it. We’d very much prefer to see peace and a ceasefire.”    The Prime Minister is avoiding the media and refuses to answer questions about the threats to the safety and security of Canadians and refuses to answer questions about Canada’s position in international affairs. This is deeply troubling.    As head of government, he has a special responsibility for national security and for the conduct of international relations. He needs to start answering questions.   #cdnpoli

What an exciting opportunity for Canada: we can “participate in the reshoring” of production to the United States. From, say, Canada. It’s very simple: as the Trade Representative explains, we agree to open our markets to the United States, and in return they agree to close their markets to us. Where do we sign?!
