I joined British MPs on a delegation to European Parliament to discuss the Government’s EU Reset. As a former Royal Marine who worked with European partners, I spoke about the importance of UK and European cooperation as we face shared challenges in Ukraine and the Middle East.

I met with MP @Nigel_Farage at the Embassy to hear his perspectives on the current status of the U.S.-UK relationship. Nigel has great respect for @POTUS @RealDonaldTrump and the United States. He is particularly fond of the Trump administration’s unwavering commitment to peace through strength. I look forward to working with Nigel to advance the security and prosperity of our countries.

Liz Truss@trussliz·
You end up with a gibbering non-entity in Downing Street when: The power is removed from the Prime Minister and Parliament and placed in the hands of unelected bureaucrats and judges. The media pretend that the Prime Minister is all powerful and report on politics like it's a King's court. Anyone trying to take on this narrative is marginalised, suppressed or destroyed. Keir Starmer is the consequence not the cause of years of hollowing out of the British system. And the British media is a big part of the problem.

My position has been clear from the start, as I write in today’s @DailyMail. I said Britain should allow the United States to use our airbases if needed (NOT to join the initial strikes as Starmer claims), and when we were targeted to strike at those attacking our bases. The Prime Minister argued against that... but then changed his mind and did exactly as I had suggested. We see the same confused leadership across his government. Today’s youth unemployment policy shows the pattern: decisions taken without thinking, followed by frantic attempts to undo the consequences. This is what happens when a Prime Minister governs by chasing polls rather than acting on conviction. You may not always agree with my conclusions. But they come from principles and a clear plan. At a moment like this there is only one serious and credible alternative to Labour. The Conservative Party. Read my full piece👇 dailymail.co.uk/debate/article… (2/2)

It has taken Labour two weeks to send a single naval vessel from Portsmouth behind me to defend our British base in Cyprus. The depleted state of our armed forces is making the rest of the world lose respect for us. This is a wake-up call.

A reminder... without women, there was no Bletchley Park. By January 1945, women made up 75% of the workforce, taking on roles across almost every level of the organisation - from operators and linguists to engineers and analysts. Their contribution reflected a wider shift across wartime Britain, where millions of women stepped into vital roles in industry and the armed forces. Yet despite their expertise and dedication, many faced official and societal scepticism and barriers to progression - particularly in technical and senior positions. Today, we celebrate their skill, resilience and lasting impact. Discover their stories and the difference they made by visiting Bletchley Park. #BletchleyPark #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2026 #GiveToGain

The Tories sent £230 billion of British taxpayer money abroad as foreign aid in their 14 years in real terms. Yet Britain has become a laughing stock. The era of “soft power” is over. Britain must rebuild. Rearm. Compete.

@Brunte84 Historical facts matter though; history is more complex. Whilst your statement does have truth, her own defence cuts meant the Cabinet was plunged into a crisis as to how best mobilise the task force, of which involved.... troops sailing on ferries due to her defence pitfalls

Keir Starmer has the wrong principles and the wrong priorities. We see it in his weak response to Iran. Even now, as our brave servicemen and women are under attack, Starmer is still dithering. Our allies are rightly furious. Read my thoughts in the Mail👇 dailymail.co.uk/debate/article…

@AlistairCarns @Mr_Andrew_Fox Well said Al Carns. To add, many in the Cons and Reform camp are fixating on 1940... there was effective, measured necessary cross party unity in 1940 thus perhaps they should emulate that, instead of point scoring. Precisely what is needed during this time as the PM suggested.

We need to seriously stop trying to score political points when there is a crisis unfolding. By all means challenge but we need to be above this. Do what is right by the British people and our Armed Forces. We are better than this. The division demonstrated does nothing other than play into our adversaries hands. 🙄

@BenObeseJecty It's not just money, it's about decisions that were made in terms of cutting key capabilities repeatedly by the Conservatives. Further, it's simply low- grade point scoring to monopolise a national crisis. A distinct lack of cross party unity that is beneath a once great party.

@HistoryOnz Under the last Government the UK was proportionally the third biggest spender in NATO and in 2024 was Europe’s biggest spender in cash terms. What would you have cut to spend more on defence?

The Conservatives will increase defence spending. Our allies, and our enemies, are rearming more quickly and more effectively than we are. We cannot afford to be left behind under this Labour Government. We are the only party with a clear plan and a clear path to raising defence spending to 3.0% of GDP. You can be a warfare economy or a welfare economy, but you can’t be both, as Labour are finding out. Restoring the two-child benefit cap would save £3.2 billion, with half being spent on reducing the deficit, and £1.6 billion on increasing the defence budget. Coupled with our policy to repurpose the national wealth fund to bolster defence with £11 billion from net zero energy projects and £6 billion from cutting central research and development grants, we would establish a new national defence and resilience bank. Labour won’t commit to reaching 3.0% this Parliament. By the time the Defence Investment Plan is published it will be getting on for a year late. We’ve not seen the Defence Finance and Investment Strategy that’s due, nor the Defence Industrial Recapitalisation Plan. @KemiBadenoch will deliver on defence. Deterrence is cheaper than war, but weakness is the most expensive policy of all.
