Construction will begin this spring on a new school in Campbellton. Premier Blaine Higgs and Early Childhood Development Minister Bill Hogan were on hand for the announcement this afternoon, which will see construction get underway this spring on a new kindergarten to Grade 8 school. The new school on Arran Street, next to Sugarloaf Senior High School, will accommodate nearly 400 students and replace two of the oldest schools in the province - the near century-old Campbellton Middle School along with the 63-year-old Lord Beaverbrook School. The new school, with a price tag just shy of 40-million-dollars, is expected to welcome its first students in the fall of 2026. #NB #NBnews #NBgov

NB Scammers arrested in Moncton/Dieppe, charged with online scams, extortion Codiac RCMP have arrested & charged individuals from Cote D'Ivoire, Africa, in connection with an investigation into online exploitation. Following info received from the Roussillon Intermunicipal Board of Police in Quebec, on March 2 members of the Codiac Regional RCMP executed search warrants at two locations in Moncton & Dieppe in connection with the investigation. "During the searches, police seized a number of electronic devices. A 27-year-old man, a 26-year-old man, and a 26-year-old woman, all from Cote D'Ivoire, Africa, were arrested. The three individuals were later released, and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date. Jean Michel Axel Gouin and Ketiboua Kesse appeared in Moncton Provincial Court late August, and were both charged with possession of property obtained by crime. Both individuals were released from custody on strict conditions. Victims were asked to send money via e-transfer to the following email addresses: axelgouin12@gmail.com and axoubisou225@gmail.com. On November 22, Jean Michel Axel Gouin and Ketiboua Kesse returned to Moncton Provincial Court. Their hearing was adjourned until January 3, 2024, at 1:30pm. At this point, all of the victims identified are from Quebec, however, police are still working diligently to determine if there are other victims." If you are the victim of a scam or may have any information related to these incidents or similar ones, please contact your local police. You can always contact Crime Stoppers anonymously through 1-800-222-TIPS. The investigation is ongoing.
