BANNON: @spencerpratt ran a fantastic campaign, but he was upfront that he’s not MAGA. I said he was Trumpian in style and attitude, but not MAGA. The stolen 2020 election, border security, and mass deportations are central to MAGA. He didn’t want to touch those issues. And not touching it, you see how he was defeated.

Let’s Make a Deal: If you want your FISA Section 702 — @LeaderJohnThune — so badly, then provide for an amendment to require the gov’t to seek a warrant for US citizens & attach the SAVE America Act. You get what you want — we get what we want. Deal?
Leader John Thune@LeaderJohnThune

Without Democrat cooperation, the Section 702 program will go dark in four days. America’s enemies, however, will not go dark. I hope my Democrat colleagues will rethink their decision to hold the program hostage before we all have cause to regret the consequences.

No, having people go in person to vote unless they have a reason for being absent not only works fine, it makes more sense and increases confidence in the system. Adding piles of unregulated “broker” ballots is not increasing civic participation
Terry@terrybythebay

@mtaibbi As more and more states move to mail-in voting, the less likely razor-close races will be called on election night. We must choose between: 1. More participation vs. 2. Quick results

I have twin boys. The image of this kid holding his dying brother in his arms fills me with grief and rage. If you feel no sympathy for Austin’s family then you are not human. You have no soul. In saner times we would exile you from society. You don’t deserve to live among us.

Austin Metcalf's twin brother stood motionless staring into the camera during the entire press conference tonight I vote we give him 5 minutes alone in the cell with Karmelo Anthony

Spencer Pratt is a noble man who sought answers and accountability after incompetence and corruption took away his family’s home. Instead of fleeing LA, like so many celebs before him, he built a movement around saving it, at great personal risk. A model American. @spencerpratt

Bret Weinstein cuts straight to the chase: "We are going to have an endless battle in which those of us who see what we believe is clear evidence of some kind of election rigging or fraud are faced with indignation from a vast array of people portraying themselves as more rigorous and careful who say, 'Where is your evidence? Where exactly is your evidence that there was something wrong with this election?' And we are gonna be caught in the following predicament. No piece of evidence is sufficient to establish that case. And the sum total of all of the evidence contains true things and false things. So it is also no good. So the question is, can you logically deduce that something has gone wrong? I believe you can easily. Can you prove it? No. And not being able to prove it means that the election will proceed. It will be validated by all of the structures, including the courts. And that means that those who take on the power that derives from these elections will be the result of whatever process we just went through, whether it was an election that happened to be anomalous through organic means, or it was the result of some kind of fraud or election rigging. That is not an accident. That is not an accident. And the point that I wanna make primarily is the primary evidence against elections that look like this being organic is not actually in the trickle of evidence that we are actually able to see, the moment by moment vote count that does something strange during the night when some large tranche of ballots is suddenly counted or something like that. The evidence is in the structure of how the elections are actually carried out. These elections are designed to allow fraud that cannot be detected and will not be prosecuted. And that's really the thing that we must focus on." @BretWeinstein

They burned down Spencer Pratt’s house. They burned down his parents’ house. They stole his election. If you thought Spencer Pratt was motivated before, I’d be very worried if I were the people he’s about to hold accountable. PS. Californians are pissed off too.

Larry Bushart spent 37 days in jail for posting a meme on Facebook. I’ve been doing this work for 25 years, and I can honestly say this is the worst First Amendment case I’ve ever seen. Not because Larry threatened anyone. He didn’t. Not because he committed violence. He didn’t. Not because this was a close call. It wasn’t. He posted a political meme — the kind of thing millions of Americans do every day — and local officials decided to treat it like a crime. And because they had badges, prosecutors, jail cells, and the terrifying machinery of the state behind them, they got away with it for 37 days. Larry is a retired police officer and National Guard veteran. The meme he shared quoted Donald Trump’s “we have to get over it” comment after a 2024 Iowa school shooting. Whatever you think of Trump, the meme was plainly political commentary. Perry County officials knew what it referred to. They knew it wasn’t a threat against a Tennessee school. They arrested him anyway. In the middle of the night. They set his bond at $2 million. He lost his job. He missed family milestones. He sat in jail for more than a month before the charges finally collapsed — because, of course, there was no crime here. Today, @theFIREorg secured a measure of justice: Perry County agreed to pay Larry Bushart $835,000 for violating his constitutional rights. This case should scare the hell out of people across the political spectrum. Because if the government can jail you for a meme by pretending not to understand obvious political commentary, your rights are only as secure as the good faith of the most authoritarian official in your town. That is exactly why we have the First Amendment. Not for speech everyone likes. Not for opinions that flatter the powerful. Not for the bland, safe, committee-approved stuff. It exists for moments when fear, outrage, politics, and authority all line up and say: “Surely this is the exception.” No. It isn’t. I’m incredibly proud of @theFIREorg’s legal team. And I’m even prouder of Larry Bushart for refusing to let the government get away with treating his constitutional rights like a suggestion. But despite the correct verdict, I'll probably always get angry every time I think of this case. Let’s make this the last time anyone in America is arrested — let alone thrown in jail — for a meme. Celebrate your independence. Defend your First Amendment. fire.org/news/victory-t…

What’s your explanation for Raman losing to Bass by 16 points on election night but beating her soundly in mail-in votes?
Terry@terrybythebay

@patrickblong @mtaibbi Pratt spent millions more than both Democrats in part on a campaign to get Republicans to turn in ballots early. Raman is extremely popular with younger voters who notoriously wait until the last minute. There’s no conspiracy or mystery here

Last year, the SPLC added TPUSA to their so-called "hate map," placing us alongside neo-Nazi organizations and the Ku Klux Klan. The day before Charlie was murdered, they published a newsletter attacking him and Turning Point USA. Today, they doubled down and stood by that designation. They have to, because it's their real mission. As we now know thanks to the Trump DOJ, the SPLC itself funds violent extremist groups to stoke fear among the public, so they can stick organizations like Turning Point USA on their "hate map" and tar us by association. Turning Point USA has, from the beginning, stood for open conversations and respectful debate regardless of creed or color. All along, the real hate group is the SPLC, which recklessly sows hate every day with its lies.
