According to residents and local sources, the attackers invaded the community in the early hours, killing people, setting houses ablaze, and forcing residents to flee into surrounding bushes. Several persons are still missing, and ongoing search efforts suggest the death toll may rise further. The affected churches First ECWA Church and St. Augustine Catholic Church were reportedly targeted in the early hours and during worship services, throwing the community into chaos. At least seven worshippers have been confirmed dead, while several others were abducted by the attackers. The exact number of those taken is still being verified as the situation continues to unfold. Eyewitness accounts describe a coordinated assault, with gunmen arriving in large numbers and opening fire on unsuspecting worshippers gathered for Easter. Local confirmation of the incident came from Mark Bawa, the councillor representing Awon Ward, which includes Ariko District.
