Today we co-hosted with the ICRC an event on the Protection of Places of Worship during Armed Conflicts in the framework of the ICRC’s Global Initiative to Galvanize Political Commitment to IHL. The event was co-sponsored by the Permanent Mission of Jordan and of Kazakhstan.

Satellites are #DigitalLifelines for communities around the world. Proud to work with UN partners to keep space safe and sustainable by supporting responsible operations, safe satellite disposal, sharing practical solutions and building capacity for all.

It was an honour to meet His Holiness @Pontifex yesterday at the Vatican. I expressed my gratitude for championing every person’s right to health, especially the most vulnerable communities living in emergencies. We discussed collaboration on health and peace, advancing mental health, the impact of climate on health, and the serious implications of declining global funding for health in the short and long term. We also discussed fostering global solidarity to advance #HealthForAll. There is no peace without health and no health without peace.

It was my pleasure to meet with His Eminence Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, and thank him for his steadfast commitment to fostering peace and development in the Holy Land. We discussed the @LPJerusalem’s work to respond to the health challenges in Gaza and agreed to collaborate on efforts to improve access to, and reconstruction of, health services in the Strip. We also touched on the crises in Ukraine and Sudan and stressed the need for the entire world to put the protection of humanity at the heart of all we do.

I was honoured to meet His Holiness Pope Leo XIV and thank him for his steadfast support for refugees. His moral and spiritual leadership aligns deeply with our work to promote protection and dignity for people forced to flee in today’s challenging global context.

We were pleased to welcome a number of Catholic - inspired NGOs to the Mission today for a meeting to discuss projects and priorities for 2026, followed by a pre-Christmas celebration. Thank you all for your work and witness in Geneva!

One million young people from around the world joined Pope Leo for the Prayer Vigil as part of the Jubilee of Youth, which focused on three themes: friendship, prayer, and courage. After arriving in a helicopter from Rome, the Pope greeted the crowds in the popemobile before carrying the pilgrim Jubilee cross up to the platform for the Liturgy of the Word and Eucharistic Adoration.

Pope Leo responded to three questions from different young people in Spanish, English, and Italian during the Jubilee of Youth. Each question reflected on one of the themes of the Vigil: friendship, courage, and spirituality. Here, he responds to a question from Will from the US, who asked him how to “truly encounter” Jesus, and be sure of his presence “even in the midst of trials and uncertainties".

A message on behalf of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV was shared today at the #AIforGood Global Summit, delivered by His Excellency Archbishop Ettore Balestrero and Sister Raffaella Petrini. His Holiness called for the responsible and ethical development of #AI, urging the global community to ensure that innovation reaches those most in need. The message emphasized using #AI to improve #education, #healthcare, and #communication, among others. Always guided by a commitment to the common good, Pope Leo XIV reminded us that AI should help build bridges, not widen divides, and must always serve #humanity with compassion, #inclusion, and justice.
