@vaxryy That's what I assumed because I couldn't find a single good client. Either all of these developers are bad or... the protocol just sucks. I chose to believe the latter.

As a foss developer and a long-time matrix user, I recommend any chat app to not use the matrix protocol because it's god awful. Either use the signal protocol which actually works, or make a successor to matrix because christ it's awful

I know it's ungrateful to complain about C. It's older than me. But if there's one thing I could change in its syntax, it would be removing the difference between . and ->. That annoys me so much.

I made my own app 160ms faster on startup and made a long annoyed blog post about the library that caused that. That has to account for something! When will I get my Linux Certification?

@cmuratori The MX Master mice have a normal clicky wheel but if you flick it, it goes in free-spin mode. Really satisfying. Horizontal wheel is bonus goodness.

My mouse has a button to toggle the scroll wheel between single increments and free-spinning. Normally it's on single increment, and I scroll in a reserved, orderly manner. But when you hear that button pop, and I engage the free-spinning mode, you know it's about to get real.

@lemire I read somewhere that all teams were pressured into selling copilot. This is not there for consumers; This is there so someone checks a box and doesn't have to face higher ups and justify their budget.

I am in Microsoft Word. I press Copilot. I ask for a table. The AI can't modify the Word document so it creates a new document in the cloud. It then allows me access the document through a link. Presumably I am supposed to go there, copy the table and put it in my Word document myself. Who designed this ? This is so obviously a low-effort implementation that I am baffled. It is almost as if they wanted to fail. Why can't Microsoft see that having direct access to Microsoft Word is an incredible edge that they could leverage to embed the AI directly? It is almost comical.

@cmuratori We have to go back to fixed function pipelines so graphics hardware become uninteresting for data centers.

Building a new computer these days is fantastic right up until the point where you need to order a GPU.
