@bigfatsurprise Completely shocked the NYT would publish a negative article on MAHA/Trump. Deep State propaganda at it's finest.

There is currently NO effort to bring the new US Dietary Guidelines (the new pyramid) to school lunches for kids. Our children will be fed the same low-fat, protein-poor meals next fall--and maybe forever. The USDA has not begun translating the Guidelines into new administrative rules--current ones are based on 2010 guidelines, with a few Obama-era changes still being enacted. Why some of us are feeling disenchanted by MAHA, @nytimeswell nytimes.com/2026/04/23/us/…

@DoctorTro I dropped junk food and alcohol. I had built my social life around eating and drinking. I rediscovered my interest in youth sports and outdoor activities when food and drink quit driving my short term decisions.

@AjRockatansky Cheerios will lower your cholesterol a few % points. So, that much is true. They do seem to omit that the cereal is loaded with glyphosate and that it will contribute significantly to development of metabolic syndrome and coronary artery disease.

@CaryKelly11 @MissB53 Butter and fat 100% makes for weight gain... 100%. Generally - no need to add butter to almost anything - especially if diet is 90% meat. The test I do is the stew test... take what you'd eat, as you'd eat it... stew it. If the fat layer is thick, too fatty... if thin, AOK.

Most people think eating more butter should make you gain weight. That only makes sense if your body is still running primarily on glucose. When insulin stays elevated, your body can’t easily access stored fat for fuel. So it keeps asking for more food. That’s the “food noise” cycle most people live in. But when you increase dietary fat and lower glucose demand, something different starts happening. Your body relearns how to burn fat. Not just the fat on your plate your stored body fat too This process is called fat adaptation. It’s not magic. It’s not a trick. And it’s not about adding butter forever. It’s about restoring metabolic flexibility so your body can use the fuel it already has access to. Weight loss is often just the side effect of that shift.

I'm the contrarian. I leave the membrane on and cook bone side down. The membrane dissolves as it cooks, but holds moisture in until then. Dry brining is a must on ribs for me. At least 48hrs in the fridge with your seasoning on. 3.5 hrs or so on 225, unwrapped.
BBQFriend@bbqfriend

No More 321 Ribs Lets be honest, 3-2-1 ribs are pointless. You can make way better ribs in half the time. This is how I like to make my baby back ribs and it’s the easiest recipe youll ever make Rub: @meatchurch The Gospel Pellets: @bearmountainbbq Cherry Knife: @benchmadeknifecompany Probe: @thermoworks #bbq #bbqfriend #babybackribs #ncbbq #pelletgrill

@BiggestComeback When I weighed 280#'s and was insulin resistant, I would crash and become hypoglycemic after 30-45 minutes in the gym. After 3 years of keto and 80# weight loss, I can now easily workout fasted and tap into my body fat for fuel.

A lot of practitioners & so-called fitness experts love telling people they should never exercise fasted. I find this fascinating in a society where a huge percentage of people are overweight, obese, and/or metabolically unhealthy. We’re really going to make “eat before you move” the rule for everybody? Test it for yourself. If eating first helps you, fine. I’ve tested & retested this in my own life for the past 8 years, and I’ve never seen any indication that eating before workouts improves my performance. That doesn’t mean nobody does better that way. But the idea that everyone should be admonished to eat before exercise seems backwards to me. For a lot of people, the bigger problem isn’t that they go too long without food. It’s that they’ve been taught to eat constantly.

960 days of eating a LOT of animal fat. More than twenty times the currently suggested intake by my maths. My only apparent problem seems to be the slight uptick in the amount of assholes who cannot control their wishes of death upon me. I would think that if they were really, REALLY dedicated to being obedient cucks for their industry overlords, that they would get a better schtick than than the whole scurvy and fiber thing.

The only idea Bill Gates ever had in his life was the concept of a computer having windows; and he stole that idea from Xerox copiers.
Mr. Nobody@MmisterNobody

BILL GATES IS BACK AND STRONGER THAN EVER Bill Gates is now officially back in full force and is promoting a lab grown meat company called Upside Foods. In 2017, Gates personally invested alongside Richard Branson, and the company has since raised over $400 million while securing both FDA and USDA approval. Sounds like a success story. But let's talk about what's actually happening inside those facilities. To make this meat, scientists extract cells from a fertilized chicken egg and place them into massive steel tanks filled with a nutrient-rich liquid. Over the course of a few weeks, those cells multiply from millions into over a trillion. Sounds clean. Sounds simple. But here's the part they don't put on the label. Normal cells have a built-in limit. They can only divide so many times before they stop. That's biology protecting you. So to produce this meat at the scale needed to feed millions, scientists use gene-editing tools to switch off the genes that tell cells to stop dividing They make the cells immortal. Permanently. Endlessly multiplying. Ask yourself, what else in the human body divides without stopping? Cancer cells. And yet there are essentially zero long-term studies on what regularly consuming these products does to the human body. None. We are being asked to trust the science while the science is still being written. Now here's where it gets strategic. As these bioengineered foods push toward your grocery store, they won't market them as lab experiments. They'll dress them up in the language of wellness. Labels reading "high protein," "sustainable," "clean meat," designed to sit right next to the foods you already trust. And you would be shocked how many people won't think twice.

One of my goals is to never have to count or restrict calories again. Meals like this make that possible—high protein, real food, excellent satiety. I choose to eat in a way that makes restraint unnecessary.

@BrandonStraka I moved to LA in 1983 to find work after college. I moved back to Indiana in 1987 because a starter home cost $250,000+ in LA. My first home in Indiana cost ~$75,000 and had a 13%, 3 year adjustable rate mortgage; an "ARM." It has never been easy to buy your first home.
