Day 2 of @OpenSciEd Curriculum Launch for 6-12 @plaea included creating the unit storyline for 6.1, 7.1, 8.1, B.1 & C.1; understanding the criteria & components of 3D assessment to evaluate the transfer tasks using the SEP, DCI, & CCC matrices. What a great day! One day to go! 😁

"I want us to expand how we think about and define scientific vocabulary." - Alicia Wedderburn. One of the biggest takeaways from "Discourse with an Equity Lens in the Science Classroom" is that linguistic bias creates barriers to having students' geniuses acknowledged by their teachers. Just finished teaching the @OpenSciEd HS physics unit 1: Texas Blackout. I loved how throughout the unit, there were many opportunities to make local connections. Students had a lot of questions about how we generate power in WA state. 1/7
