12 million pensioners just got a 4.8% rise, paid for by £12bn in working-age welfare cuts. The triple lock's annual cost is set to explode to £15.5bn by 2030. So the young pay, the old vote. That's not a pension; it's a pyramid scheme.
@GMB The state pension name should be changed
It’s not a benefit we paid in all our lives why shouldn’t we get what we paid for
How’s about you return all the money that we paid in I could then invest all that money
More than 12 million pensioners will see their state pension rise 4.8% today under the triple lock.
But the government has been accused of doing too little for working-age households so is it time to scrap the triple lock?
@keithjones0591@benonwine This is about younger kids growing up in the 70's, so seems to apply more to early Xers than late boomers, given the years '65 - '71 as opposed to '61-'64 for boomers ('60 & earlier would have already been at least 10 years old in 1970).
It's so funny to see people giving up on $FLR just because the price didn't move for some weeks.
I've been buying up $FLR ever since it launched like a maniac even when it dropped all the way to $0.008, I still kept on buying.
If you have this mentality, then you will win!!
@mindofprospect@sgathach200bc Only 7.9 percent of the population in the UK reach the age of 75
That’s only or will be 7 years getting the state pension for most of the population
Review this: You pay £2,988/year in National Insurance for 35 years on a median salary of £37,430 (£104,580!) expecting a pension. If the Government claims there's "no money," it means they've spent YOUR cash without permission and failed to plan for YOUR future. #PensionScandal
@sgathach200bc people who were on an average wage their whole lives and are expecting to retire soon paid nowhere near this, and even then, £3k NI to get £11k in pension and you think you're funding it yourself?
"Especially at a time when we're making so much progress on the NHS and its future, let's work together."
@WesStreeting responds to the BMA Resident Doctors' industrial action ballot result 👇
@wesstreeting After you gave 28.9% to doctors
How much did nurses get no where near that some
They will be next to strike
Why do Scottish nurses get better pay than English nurses
British are being mugged off
Is this not the United Kingdom shouldn’t they all be paid the same
After a 28.9% pay rise thanks to a Labour government, patients and the public will be dismayed that the BMA is choosing to strike - and so am I.
I have written to the BMA today reaffirming our preference to work together to improve their working lives and rebuild our NHS.
@wesstreeting@bphillipsonMP Why do Scottish nurses get paid more than English nurses
Not a very United Kingdom is it
Pay should be the same anywhere is the uk
It’s not talent that is unevenly distributed in our society, it is opportunity.
I’m determined to smash through the class ceiling in medicine, to make sure that working class kids from backgrounds like mine and @bphillipsonMP can achieve their dreams 👇🏻

@Keir_Starmer Paying 40% tax was once for the wealthy people
Thresholds need to rise no one will see a pay rise till 2029 that is if you don’t move it further even labour are continuing the conservative legacy higher taxes
I know the cost of living crisis isn't over — but my Plan for Change is starting to put more money in your pocket.
Wages are rising, free breakfast clubs are rolling out, and our commitment to the Triple Lock means millions of pensioners will see their state pension increase.
@Neccccy I think that any MPs that are caught lying should all be sacked plus there pension should be taken from them as well
They are public servants they should never get away with saying one thing and doing something completely different
